Chapter 4 - Chapter 03

It had been about 4 and a half months since Walter visited.

Along with the pokemon egg, Walter gave Forest 3 other things.

He gave him 3 pokeballs, he said the 1st was for his egg, and if he wanted to catch others, he had 2 more. Pokeballs aren't a one-time use if they fail like in the games. As long as they aren't directly broken they can be used again.

His own Pokemon League ID. He just had to go to a nearby Pokemon center to take his picture and it was set. As a 10-year-old, he could only own 3 pokemon until he became an actual trainer.

This is to keep little kids from getting into too much trouble.

And a recommendation letter to a pokemon Professor that Walter knew named Professor Spruce, who lived somewhere near Pewter City.

In this world, it's important to have good backing. Being an apprentice to a PokeProfessor is a very good thing to have.

They have a lot of knowledge about pokemon, and if you ever need a place to keep your extra pokemon, you always have someone to trust.

Walter told him that he should go when he turns 12 so that he has time to train up his pokemon for a bit before heading out.

He also said that the egg had about 4-5 more months before hatching.

Forest had forgotten to ask which pokemon the egg was because he was too excited. And his cheat thing didn't work on eggs.

He still didn't understand why he had the 'cheat.' Did he just get it because he came from another world? For what reason?

He lays in his bottom bunk thinking.

His thoughts changed once more, back to the pokemon egg.

'Hmm, it seems to be a fire type judging based on the color.'

Then a thought came to his mind.

'Oh no.. what if it's a Magikarp!' He screamed in his mind

'What will I do? How will I train it?'

Forest was going through a mental dilemma when the egg started to glow.

He gasped

'It's time!'

The egg started glowing orange in color, a mild heat started radiating from it.

The glow started waking up the kids who were sleeping in the room

When it finally reached the brightest it could go. It started to crack.

*crack crrack*

Forest watched in awe as his very own pokemon began to hatch

Finally, the pokemon broke through the egg and revealed itself.

It looked around before making eye contact with Forest.

"Chimchar?"

Forest looked back at it

Forest didn't how good blue potential was, the only colors he had seen before were red and yellow around the Orphanage, and the highest he had seen was Walt's Persian, Which was dark green.

The fire monkey sits on Forest's bed, looking inquisitively at him.

"H-Hey buddy," Forest said

"Char?" It tilted its little head

"My name is Forest, do you want to be my friend?" He put his hand out

Forest didn't really know what to do. This is his first time ever befriending a pokemon. He was just copying what Ash did from the series, and asked it to be his friend.

'Wait, can it even understand me? I know pokemon can understand human language, but he just hatched...'

As he was going through another mental dilemma

"Char?" The Chimchar grabbed one of Forest's hands and smiled

This sparked a friendship that lasted a lifetime.
