Chapter 05 - Pokemon: Expedition to the Peak

It has been about 2 months since Chimchar successfully learned to use Fire Punch.

Igna has since gotten more proficient in using it and is able to use it more and more without feeling tired.

Although he is making progress, it wasn't as much as Forest would like. He had thought about going into the outskirts of Viridian Forest to train and fight low-level pokemon, but he was worried about encountering strong pokemon.

He might be able to run from a little Weedle or something, but what if he had to run from a Beedrill? He wasn't confident. And on another note, Beedrill are terrifying!! He had seen a trio some time ago and they are huge! It made him dread seeing other scary-looking pokemon.

He looked and smiled at his little Chimchar and was glad he wasn't scary.

Forest noticed that after Igna got more proficient with using Fire Punch, "Normal" was added next to it. He wasn't sure what it meant at first, but after thinking about it for a bit he was pretty confident that it was a grading of sorts. He only reached a normal level of proficiency after training for a while.

He hasn't taught him how to use Thunder Punch quite yet, but he planned on getting to it soon. A thing Forest had heard before is that Pokemon could use multiple moves at once, once they were powerful enough to do so.

'Does that mean Igna could use Thunder Punch and Fire Punch at the same time? Could he inflict both burn paralysis at once?'

As he was thinking, Igna walked up to him and tugged at him.

"What is it, buddy?" Forest asked

Igna then proceeded to make punching motions in the air and then looked up at Forest with anticipation.

"Hm, you want to punch things?" Forest guessed

"Chimcharr!!" Igna yelled and jumped up and down

After thinking about it for a bit, Forest finally gave into the idea of going to the Viridian Forest to train.

When he brought his idea up to the Directress, she immediately dismissed the idea and said it was too dangerous for him at the moment.

After some convincing and a couple of promises, she finally agreed to let him go.

He had to make sure to be extra safe, and he had to back before the sun went down, or else he wouldn't be able to go anymore.

As Forest was seeing her off, the Directress told him to wait for a moment.

She came out with a few items and gave them to Forest.

"I knew you were going to want to travel eventually, so I had got these for you, though l didn't expect you to want to leave so soon."

She gave Forest a backpack filled with a couple of items like snacks and water and a black cap with an orange bill.

"I know you want to get going already, I won't keep you any longer. Be safe!"

Forest felt really grateful. In the time he had been here he hadn't really interacted with anyone, and to see them treat him nicely, made him feel happy.

"Thank you Directress! Let's go Igna!" Forest donned the backpack and put on his new cap, which was surprisingly snug, and began running towards the forest with Chimchar in tow.

It took about 30 minutes to get to Viridian Forest.

Forest and Igna made sure not to go too far deep into the woods, as they are filled with great dangers.

Forest had made sure to emphasize to Igna how dangerous it was there for them right now and to avoid it.

Although there were many pokemon that were visible, he had to find the right one to battle.

He wanted to avoid battling Weedles because they might alert their Beedrill friends. Igna still had PTSD from the Caterpie incident, so that's a no-go, and he also had to avoid pokemon that were too high level.

After searching for quite a bit, he finally found a worthy opponent for Igna.
