Chapter 2 - Chapter 01

On the outskirts of Viridian city is an orphanage.

In the said orphanage, there is a young-looking boy, maybe around 8 years old.

He has a gloomy air about him as he sits there alone. All of the other orphans seemed to have pitiful looks on their faces whenever they looked at him.

His name is Forest. Forest Mintz.

He has dark green eyes, blue-greenish hair, and fair skin. He seems to be slightly malnourished.

But his most defining feature is his never-fading frown.

"Tsk my 10th birthday is in a few days, but what does it matter.. It's not like it means anything" Forest muttered

For normal kids, their parents or guardians would get them a starter Pokemon at the age of 10, before being allowed to officially become a trainer at age 15.

But orphans, typically don't get that treatment. Most orphanages are poorly funded by the Pokemon League, so they can't afford to buy kids a pokemon.

'After all who would care about a bunch of useless kids without any backing?' Forest thought

Forest had grown pessimistic after everything that happened to him. The way he ended up in the orphanage was very tragic after all.

--

Forest had a wonderful family, he had a big and powerful trainer as a dad, and a loving and caring mother.

Forest loved his parents very much, but he couldn't tell them one thing...

He was actually from another world.

Forest was nothing more than a young boy on earth before he wound up in the home of his new parents.

A young boy who loved pokemon, yet was very sick.

He eventually succumbed to his sickness, when suddenly he woke up again.

He woke up in the delivery room as a baby!

Let alone reincarnating, imagine his surprise when he was born into the world of pokemon!

Years passed and he slowly began learning more about the world he was reborn into.

It wasn't the kissy and cuddly world from the anime and games.

People and pokemon alike died.

There was no "fainting" like in the games.

If you lose, you die.

Forest didn't know what to do with this information, he only had the mind of a 12-year-old after all from a world where little to no conflict happened around him.

So, as any kid would, he brushed it off.

He was so excited to potentially get a pokemon in the not so near future.

Yet, things don't always go to plan.

When he was 6 his father was announced missing.

A year later, he was declared dead.

Around the same time his mother got sick, and after some time.. she passed away.

Not only did he lose his family in the span of a year. He also lost any possible connection towards his one dream. Pokemon.

See, in order to own pokemon, you need the Pokemon League's ID Card (PLID for short), or a Pokedex.

With having parents in the League, it's as simple as having them sign you up once you come of age, then they can get their card.

A Pokedex is even better. Not only does it work as identification, but it can also gather info on pokemon, tell you useful information, and you can use it for counting how many pokemon you've caught.

But Pokedex's are very expensive, not only do you need a lot of money, you need the connections to buy them.

There are of course other ways of obtaining pokemon, but without the Pokemon League's ID, you would be owning it illegally, and you will be dealt with accordingly.

It's so simple, yet for Forest, it's nothing but a dream.

As Forest walks into the orphanage for the first time, he lays his eyes on a nearby Caterpie.

'heh' Forest sighed inwardly

'Such a shame I can't catch pokemon..'

'I guess I'll never be able to use my cheat after all..'
