It was a low blow, but that shut them both up, and I pretended that I didn't notice the fist clenched underneath the table.
Assault took a breath, kept the happy-go-lucky smile on his face, and pressed forward. "The PRT can protect you from the E88 retaliation."
Tsunade snorted at that even as I waved my hand to dismiss his request. "That's never going to happen. And I already told you that we aren't parahumans."
Assault snorted and I could see the eye roll with exaggerated head movements to match. "Pull the other one mate."
My shoulders went up and down in a shrug. "Even if we were, my list of demands are rather extensive. Just my first stipulation alone would see me in charge of that shitshow because as much as you pretty it up. Armsmaster answers to Piggot when the PRT and the Protectorate were clearly set up as separate entities." I shook my head at that. "I don't even want to get into the number of violations, waste of money, waste of space, time, people, etc. Then there is also the little fact that, I could never work with either of them, one is inept, and the other has shown clear signs of being damn near a vegetable."
Battery gave me an affronted look, "Excuse me…"
There was no stopping the sigh as it left my lips, Tsunade gave them a commiserating smile. Then put her hand out over my mouth to stop me from speaking. "Sorry, he can just get a little worked up."
My eyes went wide, then flat as I looked at her trying to be diplomatic with the PRT. So, being a little asshole, I stuck my tongue out and wiggled it against her palm. Reborn super android woman or not, she still flinched and pulled her hand back.
"Yeah, no," I said with a shake of my head while Tsunade wiped her palm off. Tsunade gave me a glare but I bulldozed forward anyway, "The man's so-called specialty is efficiency, miniaturization, and hybrid tech, yet none of what he uses is ever original and hasn't been in how many years now. Who in their right mind cares about 3.455555 percent efficiency when it's not going to aid in ridding the city of the gangs or being the turning point in cleaning up the place." I spoke and it was clear that this was getting to me and I had to take a moment to calm down as the emotions of being born in this world dragged up alot of issues I had with the Worm setting.
ROB really did a number when he dropped me into this mess and then gave me a background of a not-well-lived youth, but it was decent with minor bumps here and there.
Now that I was alot calmer, I continued to speak to the heroes across from me with a raised brow, "My interactions the other night were more than enough for me to create a general profile of the man since I don't read into much online rumors, but has it not clued to anyone how much of his life, personality, and equipment has been cannibalized to meet this so-called efficiency, none of his tech has been original since his Wards days, and the only reason he got placed here was so they could say they gave my beloved city an apprentice of Hero." I shook my head, "The only reason he knows his head from his ass is that it wouldn't be efficient to shit from his mouth, and don't get me started on that person you call a director."
Tsunade sighed and gave me a flat look, "Anthony, that's enough."
"No, the hell it's not," I stated with a shake of my head.
Tsunade gave them a sheepish smile, and I could see the red on Battery's face peaking around her mask. Assault looked like he was having a grand ole time even if he was still on guard. I didn't need to break the encryption of the communications unit to hear the yelling on the other side of that call.
"I have never met the Director," I said, and I could see Battery and Tsunade let out a sigh, "but…" Ohh that pause seemed to have gotten them hooked, "I have seen her during press conferences, and everyone knows she's a survivor from Ellisburg, and those in the know, also know a lot of Parahumans cut and ran during that mess with Nilbog even if it's being kept on the hush-hush. It's rather clear she was sent here on her last post to die and but she's too bitter for that. Even if I'm not a parahuman, I would refuse to work for someone who clearly hates those she works with and pure principle alone. Pan-Pan has been around for nearly 6 years now and that lady has never gotten healing. And you expect me to put the protection of me and mines in her hands." I scoffed at them then was silenced as Tsunade decided to dig her fingers into my side and pinch me.
