Chapter 4 - The Change

Haruki knew that he had things to do, so he could not sleep. He had a shower first and also washed his clothes, which had become very dirty. He also cut his hair, which had become quite long and looked very untidy.

After wringing his clothes, he decided to wear them anyway, knowing that they would dry in two hours at most. Since he could not really go outside and had nothing to do, he decided to just sleep the two hours out.

After sleeping for about an hour and a half, Haruki felt that the wetness had nearly gone and decided to go to the nearby clothes shop to buy decent clothes.

After arriving at the clothes' shop, Haruki decided on buying two sets of clean white outfits with golden rims, matching white pants and gloves.

He also bought a pair of shoes and two pairs of similar white socks.

After this, he went to the local berry shop and purchased the berries that would be used in making low-quality recovery Pokéblocks since the higher quality ones required materials of a way better quality and variety, which Haruki did not have access to.

Haruki recalled, "Recovery Pokéblocks help in the recovery of the Pokémon's physical and magical stamina as well as recovery from any wound, and they are easier to sell than more specific Pokéblocks like the ones fed to a certain species of Pokémon."

He also mentally added, "Also, on local Pokémon items' shops, they sell for a higher price than species specific Pokéblocks."

He recalled that Low-level berries are mostly not considered Pokémon items and are also mostly safe for humans to eat, so they are not bought or sold in Pokémon item shops.

On the streets, as he was heading back to the hotel in order to create some Pokéblocks, he started getting looks from some people. This ironically made him nervous, someone who was "trained" by an organization to be a perfect politician, showcasing the failure of the organization in doing what they wished to do.

He came to his home and, after putting the berries on a nearby table, decided to rest for a few minutes since he was tired due to walking so much. He glanced at the Pokéball that was on the bed and his thoughts drifted to Elekid, who he knew would just come out of the Pokéball after waking up. Most Pokémon, after all, unless injured or tired, can easily come out of a Pokéball.

However, it is harder to come out of a Great Ball or an Ultra Ball since they are made with better technology and materials.

After resting, Haruki blended a few berries in a specific proportion to make the Pokéblocks, which does not sound very hard and, indeed, is not very hard.

The real test of knowledge and skills comes in the heating part, when the mixture is heated and all the parts have to be receiving proper heat, which is done by stirring the mixture. The amount of heat needed is determined by calculations a person has to do on the spot while knowing the random changes in the mixture. After a bit of excess or lack of heat, the mixture may become useless.

This is the reason why Pokémon breeders have a lot of respect and strength in the world, because they are a job with a low supply and a high demand.

Haruki was doing it for the first time but because of his aura powers and his rather stable hands, he was able to do it flawlessly. He had never done it before since he could not really do it in front of his former mentors, because if he showed any talent for Pokéblock creation in front of them, he would have been used as a cash cow.

After repeating the process till all the berries were used up, Haruki decided to sleep for the night.

At some time in the night, a yellow gremlin decided to wake up, and after waking up, it saw a white-haired kid in white clothes sleeping near him on the bed, which he found quite strange.

After a bit of contemplation, Elekid exclaimed "Ellli!!" as if coming to the realization that the cute kid was none other than Haruki, who had been awoken by the noise.

Haruki interpreted the exclamation of Elekid just as a wake up call and said, "Elekid, it's night, you should sleep a bit more. I also feel the need to sleep, so please let me sleep."

Elekid did not even have time to contemplate how Haruki changed so much before Haruki went to sleep.

Elekid recovered from the shock, and since he knew that it is rude to wake up people who are asleep, he decided to do it yet again.

Haruki, who was once again awoken by the yellow gremlin, looked at Elekid blankly as Elekid pointed towards his head and shouted, "Eli eli eli!"

Haruki interpreted the shouting of the yellow gremlin as him asking to hear stories and sighed in resignation. "Fine, I will tell you another story if you promise to be quiet for the night."

After hearing that, Elekid forgot that Haruki once had long hair and eagerly nodded his head, only remembering the matter of Haruki's hair after the story was done and Haruki had fallen asleep after telling it to sleep as well.

Elekid, who was well rested, did not know how it could sleep, so it begrudgingly just laid down on the bed, not having anything to do.

Since Elekid had nothing to do, his thoughts wandered off to his parents, and as he remembered them, he could not help a few tears falling from his eyes.

Haruki, who could sense heavy emotions even in deep sleep due to his aura, woke up and found the Pokémon crying.

He quickly and correctly guessed that Elekid was crying due to his parents. Haruki hugged it and said, "Elekid, you will meet your parents soon," saying nothing else because he had grown accustomed to Elekid crying while remembering his parents. He bet on the fact that Elekid would mature and then slowly come to terms with the fact that his parents will probably never be seen by him again.

Elekid hugged Haruki and took comfort in the fact that he had his unreliable little brother with him.
