"Haruki, why don't you sit here so we can have a chat? You also told me that you wanted to become a coordinator, had a Pokémon, and wanted tips for it. Can you show me your Pokémon?" said Wallace.
Haruki readily agreed, but before he could take his Elekid out, it decided to come out by itself, presenting itself proudly.
Wallace said, "Your Elekid looks great! I can give you many tips regarding how to tra-," but then stopped, remembering that Haruki was an intermediate breeder and knows more than him. Thinking about what he was doing made his cheeks a bit red, but he quickly managed to compose himself.
Haruki, trying to ease the awkwardness, said, "Ah, yes, I wanted tips on how to make Elekid more beautiful and graceful, but about becoming a coordinator, I believe I don't have the necessary time. I only wanted an opportunity to talk to you without revealing the fact that I had Pokéblocks to sell."
Before Wallace could say anything, Elekid said, "Eli eli!" which Haruki interpreted as him saying, "I'm already very beautiful and graceful, am I not?"
Haruki said, "Elekid, when adults are talking, polite children remain quiet!"
Elekid replied, "Eli eli eli!" which, although Haruki could not understand, Wallace understood as, "Heh! Look at yourself! You call yourself an adult?!"
Haruki said to Elekid in order to make him quiet, "If you let me and Wallace talk now, I will start giving you better and tastier food," which made the dissatisfied Elekid fall silent.
Wallace took it as his cue to speak and said, "In order to appear more graceful, you will need to walk more methodically. See, like this."
After 10 minutes, Wallace said, "Okay, that was all. Do you have any doubts?" and noticed that Elekid had begun sleeping, but Haruki still looked interested.
Haruki said, "No doubts, you explained it too clearly for me to have any." He was mentally complaining about all he had to endure.
Wallace and Haruki exchanged phone numbers after that, and Haruki once again reminded Wallace not to reveal that he was the one who had given him the Pokéblocks.
"When will you be done with the creation of the Pokéblocks?" Wallace asked.
"By tomorrow at 9 p.m. at most. I am staying at the Bronzecliff Hotel in room no. 31, so you can send someone there to take them, or I can also come here if you want," Haruki said.
Wallace shook his head and told Haruki he would send someone, and so, Haruki went to his hotel.
Wallace immediately called his father and said, "Father, I met a boy who should be around 10, and he was an intermediate Pokémon breeder."
He was called mad at first, but after repeatedly confirming that he really saw someone like that and showing a few Pokéblocks Haruki had made and left ( perhaps guessing something like that would happen ) his father began to take him seriously.
The father could not tell the quality of the Pokéblocks through the phone, but he trusted Wallace enough to know that he could judge them and would not be foolish enough to mistake an old person for a very young one.
His father immediately gave someone the task of investigating Haruki while making sure that the person knew not to reveal anything about him if they found something interesting.
Later that day, he learned about Haruki's physical condition, the special means he used to get things from the Pokémon Items shop at first, and how he seemed to have appeared out of nowhere in Duskmarch City.
The running theory about his origin was that Haruki had lived with some who was in seclusion since there was no way someone lived at a place and was not even known by the people who were living there.
But then, a shocking theory was made up by Wallace's father.
Haruki had a very strong backer whose Pokémon protected him, and that backer wanted Haruki to work hard and grow without help in situations that were not life-or-death. This became even more plausible when considering that even at such a young age, Haruki was so capable which should be impossible unless no proper guidance is given.
The backer of Haruki just made him dirty and told him to grow his hair so that he would have it harder in the beginning as well!
Wallace's father had many interviews in which he gave answers Haruki approved of. Haruki could create a sketch of the personality of Wallace's father and concluded that he was a far thinker, a person who thought a lot before acting and so, he was a person who would first try get Haruki to be closer to him.
His "far thinking" and "lot of thinking" had become clear now, due to his wild theory.
Wallace's father, who would not have harmed Haruki and would have wanted him on his side even without this theory, now would do a lot to get such a talented young boy allied with him.
He immediately called his son and said, "Son, have you gifted him anything yet?"
Wallace, confused, replied with a simple no, and his father yelled, "You are his senior! How can you not give your junior good gifts, you useless son! You should act more maturely and pragmatically! Remember to be extra nice to him next time you see him!" before promptly ending the call.
Wallace, utterly confused as to what he had done wrong, added having a nice dinner with Haruki to his mental checklist.
Haruki, unaware of what was going on, was calmly eating dinner with Elekid.
He knew Wallace's father would want him on his side, but not in his wildest dreams could he have imagined that the old master he dared not talk about had taken root in Wallace's father's mind.
