Victoria's POV
I laughed when I saw Ember holding that old shotgun.
"You think that rusty thing will save you?" I asked, keeping my silver pistol pointed right at her heart.
Her hands were shaking so badly she could barely hold the gun steady. Blood was still dripping down her legs onto the wooden floor. She looked like she might fall over any second.
"Put the gun down, Victoria," Ember said quietly. "This doesn't have to end badly."
"Oh, but it does," I smiled. "You have no idea how long I've been planning this moment."
Behind me, Ash was still bleeding from where I shot him in the shoulder. Cade was on the floor holding his stomach, getting weaker by the minute. Neither of them could help their precious Ember now.
"Planning what?" Ember asked.
"Your death, of course. And the death of those little monsters you're holding."
Ember's face went white. "They're just babies. Innocent babies."
"They're problems. Big problems that need to go away."
