POV: Ash
The heart monitor started beeping faster.
I jumped up from my chair next to Ember's bed. She was still unconscious, but her face was scrunched up like she was in pain.
"Ember?" I touched her hand gently. "Can you hear me?"
Her eyes opened suddenly, and she tried to sit up. "The babies! Where are my babies?"
"They're safe. Jake has them in the nursery." I helped her lie back down. "You need to rest. The doctors said you lost a lot of blood."
"How long was I out?"
"Two days."
Her face changed suddenly. "Two days? Have they been eating? Are they okay?"
"They're fine. The nurses have been giving them formula. But Ember..." I took a deep breath. "There's something you need to know."
"What?"
Before I could answer, there was a loud crash from down the hall. Then shouting.
"Where is she? I need to see her now!"
My whole body went stiff. I knew that voice.
Cade.
"He's awake?" Ember asked.
"He woke up this morning. He's been asking for you and the babies non-stop."
