POV: Ash
The pain hit me so hard.
I couldn't breathe, couldn't think, couldn't do anything except scream. Next to me, Ember and Cade were on the floor too, holding their chests and gasping for air.
"What's happening?" I managed to say between the waves of pain.
"The ritual!" Dr. Chen shouted, running into the room. "It's starting on its own!"
"But we're not at the stone circle!" Ember cried.
"It doesn't matter. The full moon is affecting your bonds. The magic is too strong to wait."
Something inside my chest felt like it was tearing apart. But not in a bad way. More like something was trying to get out. Something that had been locked up my whole life.
"I can feel my wolf changing," Cade gasped.
"Mine too," I said.
That's when I noticed Ember's skin was starting to glow.
Not like a light bulb or anything normal. Like she had tiny stars under her skin that were getting brighter and brighter.
"Dr. Chen, look at her!" I pointed.
