Cade's POV
I woke up to the sound of screaming.
Jake was standing in the doorway, holding empty baby carriers and yelling at the nurses.
"Where are they? Where are my babies?"
"What's happening?" I asked, my head still fuzzy from the magical explosion.
Jake turned to me with tears in his eyes. "They're gone, Cade. Someone took them."
"What do you mean gone?"
"I went to get coffee for five minutes. When I came back, the nursery was empty. No babies, no nurses, nothing."
I tried to sit up, but my whole body felt like I'd been hit by a truck. "Who took them?"
"Security cameras show two women in nurse uniforms. They had official papers saying they were transferring the babies to another hospital."
"But that makes no sense. Why would they transfer them?"
That's when I saw the note on my bedside table.
My blood turned to ice when I recognized the handwriting.
