Chapter 4 - — Calamity

Arthur and Revan sat on a hill next to each other. Thinking of what they were going to do first. Arthur sat in thought. There weren't too too many options to do in the prologue of the game back when he was a beta tester. But he did have a few ideas of what to do. He pulled out a notebook that Arthur for some reason kept in his pocket at all times. And started to scribble in it.

"First of all, I need to deal with some personal business up in the forest up there." He pointed to a forest that was off to the side of the main road. Covered in an eerie fog. "And next, our first real goal, will be to slay the calamity dragon before it'll even have the chance to be born."

"What? The calamity dragon? I know we were the first people to kill it. But don't you think we should power up a bit?"

"Hmph, well, you see, the calamity dragon destroyed half of the continent, in the lore. And I was the only one who actually read the lore books on it, and it turns out the calamity dragon wasn't a natural organism. It was created after a dragon egg was overloaded with different types of magic. And those mages happen to be not so far from here. And if we kill it while it hasn't even been born yet, we can probably get some rewards. As well as the knowledge the mages have hidden away."

Revans face gleamed. "Rewards? Alright then. I guess we'll head there once you're done with whatever you want to do. But don't you think you should do a little training first? I don't think basic swordsmanship will be enough to kill several advanced mages."

Arthur sighed. She was right. He was completely overestimating himself. Arthur was pretty weak at this point in time. His body was not very built and frail. And it doesn't help that he only had a basic mastery of swordsmanship. Which is why he needed to take care of that business as fast as he could.

"We have to run away tonight. And probably not come back for a while."

Revan looked towards him and sighed softly. "Yeah, I expected that...it's not like these are our real families anyways."

"...I guess not." Arthur stood up, before turning back to look at her. "Try to meet me here on the main road tonight." She nodded at him and Arthur made his way back into the mansion. He spent most of the free time he had in his room. Writing down all the information he could remember from the game at the moment into his notebook. He packed a bag with a sword, a torch, and two rocks. Along with a few pairs of clothes. He took off the regal jacket and pants and dressed into hunting gear and a black cloak.

Once the night came upon him he slipped quietly out of his room and slid his way down the stairs. Making a silent stomp onto the flooring and walking towards the main entrance.

"Son."

The moment he heard his fathers voice he nervously turned around. He faced his father, whose black hair fell to his shoulders. His sword placed regally on his side.

"...father."

"You were never one to sneak out. Only one to sleep. Whats changed?"

"I have something to do father. A mission. I'll be back soon."

Arthur's father approached him. Putting a hand on his shoulder. He handed him a sword. Its sheath had a regal pattern that represented the house of Pendragon.

"My son, wherever you may go, whoever you may meet. You must reach your goal. Don't be afraid to reach for the clouds. Don't be afraid of the unknown, as I was, if you are going to do something. See it that you do it well, my boy. As your honor of a knight."

Arthur took the sword. He sniffled a bit, back on earth, Cole never really heard any words of encouragement, all they did was complain. About everything, but Cole didn't want to be like that again. Not with this second chance.

"...thank you father. For everything."

"Now go my son."

Arthur left the mansion with a new boost of confidence. As he reached the main road he looked towards Revan, whom was wearing almost an identical outfit to his, except with a red cloak. She yawned.

"Ready to go, my knight in shining armor?"

"Yeah."

And so they departed into the forest. To meet an old friend.
