Eva ran down the hospital halls her heart beating fast. If you had stopped her she would not have been able to tell you if she was running away from something or towards it. Everything around her was blurry all walls that felt empty and sad. Her legs felt like they were going to give out before she even made it to her fathers room.
She ran into her fathers room. Fell to the floor crying really hard. "Father please do not leave me " she said,. Her words just disappeared into the quiet.
Even when nobody answered her her dads words stuck with her: "Everything will be alright Eva. Never give up." He sounded like he really meant it. That was just like him. Always strong.
The days after that were really tough. Eva did not fall apart. She just kept going not because she was being brave. Because she had to. She went back to work. Did not look back. Nobody really understood what she did for a living. She was a stunt the person who did all the hard falls and got hurt so that the actors would not get hurt. It was not a job but it paid okay if you could avoid getting hurt all the time.
Eva lived with her friend Sandra in a small apartment. Sandra was really good at her job she was great in meetings. Was always calm. Sandra had been with Eva through all the bad times.
"Get up Eva you are late " Sandra said, banging on the door.
Eva woke up with a start saw the time on her clock and got out of bed fast. She grabbed her stuff. Ran out the door just catching Sandras "Good luck" as she left.
Eva loved her bike it was her way to escape. She rode it to work going a bit fast hoping she would make it on time. Then something. She crashed into a car. Everything went blank for a second. She could not breathe.
She tried to talk. Her voice was really quiet. "I... I think I hurt my hand " she. Then everything went black.
Eva woke up in the hospital. Everything hurt. Her hand was really sore. Sandra was there looking worried.
"Thank God you are Eva " Sandra said. "I was so scared."
"I am fine " Eva said, even though she was not.
Then the door. A man walked in. He was really tall and handsome with hair and a nice suit. He was holding flowers. His name was Kevin.
He came over gave Eva the flowers and said, "I am really sorry about the accident." Then he left.
Sandra looked at Eva. "Did you see him? He is like a movie star."
Eva just rolled her eyes. "He can be charming. That does not fix my bike. If he really cared he would help me with that."
A week later Eva was back at work. Her hand was still hurt,. She did not care. She put on a glove and lied to herself saying it was fine.
The director said, "Action,". Eva started running. She had to jump and grab a rope. Her hand hurt too much. She. For a second she just let herself fall.
Then someone caught her. It was Kevin again. He had arms and a calm face. He did not say sorry he just said, "I told you to rest, not to risk your life. You are, with me now."
Eva did not even notice the people staring as Kevin carried her off the set to his car. Her life was taking a turn.
