"My castlleeeee!" Jin cried, his little voice breaking as he pointed accusingly at the retreating waves. "It bwoke my castle!" He stomped his tiny shoe into the sand before looking back at Hiro with watery eyes.
"Daddy! Make it say sowwy!"
Hiro immediately hurried over to his son, crouching beside him. He didn't hear what Izack was saying at all—his only concern was his son.
"Oh, dear…" he sighed, brushing the damp sand from the child's sleeves. "What are you doing? You're getting your clothes all dirty." He shook his head.
Jin's lips trembled.
"But…" he sniffled, pointing toward the sea once again. "It… it bwoke it…"
"I can see that."
"The wave's mean," the boy pouted.
"It is." Hiro reached out, intending to wipe away the little boy's tears.
Before he could, another pair of hands quietly entered his field of vision.
Izack had crouched beside them without saying a word. He didn't try to comfort Jin with empty promises. Nor did he tell him to stop crying.
