Felix stared at his phone's screen before tapping the phone icon.
The call rang once. Twice. Three times. But no one answered from the other side.
His eyebrows furrowed almost immediately.
Hiro rarely ignored his calls. Even if the beta happened to be busy, he would always pick up eventually, apologizing first before explaining whatever had delayed him.
It had been like that for years.
Yet today, the call continued ringing until it ended on its own.
The alpha clicked his tongue before pressing the call button again.
Once more, no answer.
Just as he was about to call a third time, his phone vibrated.
A message.
[I'm busy right now.]
Felix stared at those two words for a brief moment before typing back without hesitation.
[Busy with what?]
Several seconds passed before another notification appeared.
[I'm outside the city.]

Felix narrowed his gaze.
Since when? Why hadn't Hiro told him?
