I practically jumped off my bed and quickly made my way to the main room. If those bloody bastards had returned, I'm going to be the one taking care of them.
Mr Collins and Adeline were already in the room looking at the large monitors on the wall.
"What's the situation." I walked over with long strides, I've never been this excited for bloodshed— I mean Normal battles, totally normal, like this one.
"A group of vampires have been spotted in Zone S, about 5 of them, all males." Adeline spoke automatically, she had thoughts running in her head, I could tell. She was probably wondering 'why now?' Vampires haven't been spotted in the last decade which led us to relax a little about their patterns but not me. Plus they're the only S-ranked supernatural creatures in the system. So this was going to be a hard job.
"I'll gather my team and we'll-"
"No." Adeline interjected
I turned back and looked at her.
"No? What do you mean no?" I crossed my arms.
"Mr Collin's team will lead this mission."
Oh hell no. After ten years I finally get my chance to find a lead to the monster that murdered my parents but now she's telling me to sit back??
"Adeline, my team is more than capable of taking on this mission. Plus, it's in our Zone, we lead missions in Zone S." I argued.
"Let the adults handle this kid." Mr Collin's gave me a dirty look. He's probably sour about being demoted, in your face old man.
"Kid? As far as I'm concerned us kids are in better shape than you, do you want to break your back at your old age?" I glared at him
His face turned red with anger and humiliation.
"I am not that old." He argued pathetically.
"You're 45, that's close to your Jubilee, just sit back on this one old man, your son wouldn't want to see you in the hospital."
"Enough." Adeline stopped our petty argument. "My word is final. Collin, head over there now." She commanded.
Mr Collins gave me one final dirty look before walking past me. I uncrossed my arms and walked over to stand beside Adeline.
"Why're you doing this…you know I've been waiting for this.." I spoke.
She sighed.
"Mia, I know but you just got back from your mission, and you've never been in a fight with S-class supernaturals but Collins has…"
"Now you're just coming up with excuses" I scoffed. "We need the experience, how do you think we'll ever be ready for that then huh?"
"Mia…enough, just sit down and watch." She spoke with finality….fine…I'll sit and watch
"If they start doing shit I'm going in"
"Language." She said and I just rolled my eyes and sat down.
~40 minutes later~
I must say, watching Mr Collin's team being beaten up is rather satisfying.
They are so useless! In just ten minutes half of the team was down. Only the strongest endured longer but they clearly need assistance.
"Adeline, I'm done waiting." I got up and left the room and she didn't stop me. Why would she? I'm clearly need out there. I found my team snacking in the lounge.
"Stop lazing around, you were supposed to me training." I glared at them.
"Cut us some slack captain." Mikaela smirked.
I sighed and shook my head.
"Whatever, we have a mission in Zone S. S-class."
The all froze, Mike even dropped his sandwich.
They're overreacting.
I walked past them and began to head out. Zoe following me first.
~10 minutes~
We arrived in Zone S in 10 minutes and the sheer destruction caused by these vampires it awful…many civilians had been sucked dry. Their faces pale and dead, it was quite the gruesome scene and really disturbing for those who have never seen such deaths.
I walked ahead, my steps unwavering, I was determined, so why should I miss a beat?
We arrived just before someone's blood was about to be drawn out. The only cadet who put up a proper fight. I looked at the others who lay motionless on the ground, thank goodness they were alive. And Mr Collin…damn, he's not in good condition.
"Andrew, Mike, take care of the injured cadets, Joshua, check on any surviving civilians with Mikaela, and Zoe, come with me" I commanded.
I gripped my bronze rod and it changed into a bow and bronze arrow. I aimed quickly and hit the vampire straight in the eye and it hissed and let go of the cadet, then it glared at me and what did I do?
I smirked right in its face.
"What's wrong, dumbass?"
