Chapter 23 - Chapter 22 : Royal Wedding Bells

Sophia stood outside the grand ballroom, her heart racing with excitement as she listened to the sound of laughter and music drifting from within. The palace was abuzz with activity, preparations were underway for the royal wedding of the year - Prince Henry's marriage to Lady Victoria.

As a member of the palace staff, Sophia had been tasked with helping to coordinate the event, and she was determined to make sure everything went off without a hitch. But as she watched the guests arrive, she couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness.

She had grown to care for Prince Henry, and the thought of him marrying someone else was hard to bear. But Sophia knew she had no choice, she was just a lowly member of the palace staff, and Prince Henry was a prince.

Just as Sophia was starting to get lost in her thoughts, she heard a voice behind her.

"Sophia, you look lovely tonight," Prince Henry said, his eyes sparkling with amusement.

Sophia's heart skipped a beat as she turned to face him. "Thank you, Your Highness," she said, trying to keep her voice steady.

Prince Henry chuckled. "Please, Sophia, we've known each other long enough, you can call me Henry."

Sophia smiled, feeling a sense of ease wash over her. "Okay, Henry," she said, trying out the name.

As they stood there, chatting and laughing, Sophia felt a sense of happiness she hadn't felt in a long time. But it was short-lived, as Lady Victoria appeared at Prince Henry's side, a look of annoyance on her face.

"Henry, darling, you're needed inside," she said, her voice dripping with sweetness.

Prince Henry nodded, his eyes apologetic. "I have to go, Sophia," he said, before turning to Lady Victoria. "But I'll see you inside, my dear."

As Prince Henry and Lady Victoria disappeared into the crowd, Sophia felt a sense of disappointment wash over her. She knew she had no right to feel this way, but she couldn't help it.

Just as Sophia was starting to get lost in her thoughts, she felt a tap on her shoulder.

"Sophia, I need to talk to you," Lady Emily said, her voice low and urgent.

Sophia's eyes widened as she turned to face Lady Emily. "What's wrong?" she asked, her heart racing with concern.

Lady Emily's eyes were serious. "It's about the wedding," she said. "I think something's off."

Sophia's instincts kicked in. "What do you mean?" she asked, her mind racing with possibilities.

Lady Emily leaned in, her voice barely above a whisper. "I overheard Lord Thomas talking to someone, and I think he's planning something."

Sophia's eyes narrowed. "What did he say?"

Lady Emily hesitated. "He said something about making sure the wedding went off without a hitch, and that Prince Henry would be taken care of."

Sophia's heart sank. She knew she had to act fast.

"I need to talk to Prince Henry," she said, determination in her voice.

Lady Emily nodded. "I'll try to distract Lord Thomas, you go and warn Prince Henry."

Sophia nodded, her mind racing with possibilities. She had to stop Lord Thomas, no matter what it took.

As she made her way through the crowd, Sophia felt a sense of determination wash over her. She was going to uncover the truth, and she was going to save Prince Henry.

But as she reached the altar, she realized that she was too late. The wedding ceremony was about to begin, and Prince Henry was standing at the front, a look of happiness on his face.

Sophia's heart sank, and she knew she had to act fast. She had to stop the wedding, no matter what it took.

But as she looked up, she saw Lord Thomas standing at the back of the church, a sinister smile on his face. And she knew she was in grave danger.
