The clock struck midnight, and the palace was shrouded in darkness. Sophia and Prince Henry made their way through the shadows, their footsteps echoing off the walls. They had to be careful, as they didn't know who was watching.
Their destination was the old garden, a secluded spot where they could meet with Lady Emily without being seen. She had sent a message earlier, saying she had crucial information about the Queen's involvement with Lord Thomas.
As they reached the garden, Sophia felt a chill run down her spine. Something didn't feel right. She glanced around, her eyes scanning the shadows, but saw nothing.
Prince Henry seemed to sense her unease, and he took her hand, his grip reassuring. "It's okay, Sophia," he whispered. "We're almost there."
Lady Emily emerged from the shadows, her eyes darting around nervously. "I'm so glad you made it," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I have proof, Sophia. Proof of the Queen's involvement with Lord Thomas."
Sophia's eyes widened as Lady Emily handed her a small folder. Inside, she found documents detailing the Queen's secret meetings with Lord Thomas, as well as evidence of their plan to destroy Prince Henry and Sophia.
"This is incredible," Prince Henry breathed, scanning the documents. "We can take her down with this."
Lady Emily nodded, her eyes serious. "But you have to be careful, Your Highness. The Queen has powerful allies, and they'll stop at nothing to protect her."
Sophia's mind was racing. They had the evidence they needed, but they had to be strategic. They couldn't just barge into the Queen's chambers and accuse her.
"We need a plan," she said, her voice low and urgent. "We need to gather more evidence, and we need to do it without arousing suspicion."
Prince Henry nodded, his eyes narrowing. "I have an idea," he said. "We'll sneak into the Queen's chambers and install a bug. We can gather more evidence, and we can use it to take her down."
Lady Emily's eyes widened. "That's risky, Your Highness. What if you get caught?"
Prince Henry's jaw was set. "It's a risk we have to take," he said. "We can't let her get away with this."
Sophia nodded, her heart pounding in her chest. She knew it was a risk, but it was their only chance.
As they made their way back to the palace, Sophia couldn't shake off the feeling that they were being watched. She glanced around, but saw nothing. Maybe it was just her imagination, but she couldn't shake the feeling that they were walking into a trap.
