Chapter 26 - Chapter 26 - Ambush (1)

Once the spies had arrived, they confirmed Lucky of the existence of the mages.

"Good, are they all in one spot?" He asked.

"Yes, all 5 mages, no, all 6 of them are in one place. They are currently in a meeting with the nobles. We managed to hear this from a nearby soldier who was tasked to bring them drinks. We should hurry, they're almost done with their meeting at any moment," said one of the spies.

"There's one more mage? How strong is he?" He asked.

"Unfortunately, we still have no clue. This mage was the one who teleported them here. He's probably stronger than them, so at least at the 4th Circle. Please forgive our incompetence, Master...." said the spy whilst lowering his head.

"No, that's fine," said Lucky.

'It's good that we managed to bring more than 100 bombs. And with the rest of the bombs still en route, we can bomb them for lot more,' thought Lucky whilst looking at a line of soldiers stretching as far as Oer.

These soldiers were Bloodweavers and Daywalkers cooperatively lifting huge 500 KG dynamites in the shape of a ball.

These bombs were made of dynamite encased in a steel shell, with rope-based fuses as opposed to paper-based.

They were bringing these bombs straight from Oer, and each bomb was being lifted by at least 5 Daywalkers and 1 Bloodweaver.

"We start the bombing now. Elena! Start the countdown!" He commanded.

"On it!" Replied Elena.

"Soldiers! Man your catapults!" She commanded.

With how loud her voice was, the enemy knights should be able to hear what was happening.

After all, the hill they stood on were only a couple hundred meters away from the encampment.

As soon as all the catapults were manned, Elena immediately issued her next command, "load the catapuuults!!"

Each catapult's head operator repeated her command to their unit's members.

"Load the catapults!!"

"Load the catapults!!!!"

"Loaaadd the catapuuults!!"

With how much noise they were making, even a regular soldier of the enemy could hear the distant commotion.

Once the first catapult was loaded, the unit's head operator would scream, "Catapult loaded!!"

Then, other catapult units screamed their readiness one by one.

"Catapult loaded!!!"

"Catapult loaded!!!"

"Catapult loadeeed!!!"

Once no more unit screamed those words, Elena counted down her next command, "3!!! 2!!! 1!!!! FIREEEE!!!!"

Each catapult unit then subsequently lit the bombs' rope fuses, which were much more resistant to being blown out by the wind.

Then, they released the rope mechanism that held the catapult back.

Once released, the payload of the catapults, the bombs, were flung into the air.

*SWOOSH*

*SWOOOSH*

*SWOOOOOSH*

*SWOOSH*

*SWOOOOOSH*

Lucky marveled at the synchronicity of these shots.

Due to being capable of flinging a metric ton object as far as 100 meters. These catapults could fling 500 kg bombs at least 1.5 times further.

And due to being positioned on top of a hill, the maximum range of these catapults were further increased to 250 meters.

Going back a few moments ago, when the encampment was alerted by the commotion on the far hill.

Some patrolling goblin knights used their Aura to strengthen their eyes and saw the enemy's movements.

Inside of the village chief's house, a meeting of the nobles and mages had just been interrupted by a goblin knight.

"I have spotted our enemy," informed the entering goblin knight named Aurea.

He had independently discovered the crowded hill once he heard Elena's loud commands.

"Fuck! So what if we have guests! Deal with them, what did I hire you for?!" Yelled a fat goblin noble.

"But my Lord, they're vampires. We need to be careful," said Aurea.

"Sir Aurea's caution is right, these wicked beings are crafty. We must be of haste," said the leader of the goblin mages, a 4th Circle mage named Ooro Baldur.

"I-I see...." replied the profusely sweating fat goblin nobleman.

"My disciples, make sure to follow my lead. This will be your first time dealing with vampires. Remember, their weakness is sunlight. Prepare your sunlight spells now, we need to be ready for their craftiness," added Ooro.

"Yes, Master," the 5 mages replied in unison.

"Good, now let us see what these foolish vampires look like, as they dare to attack our great Utara kingdom," said Ooro.

A couple seconds later, the bombs smashed into the encampment, perfectly in sync with the time their fuses ran out.

One of them landed directly onto Otur's village chief's house, straight into the meeting room.

Then, the bombs exploded.

*BOOM*

*BOOOOOOM*

*BOOOOOOM*

*BOOOM*

*BOOOOOOM*

None of the mages, nobles, and knights could guess that these boulder-like objects would explode.

None of them could react, except for Oore Baldur.

Luckily, he had a defensive Magic Artifact he specifically crafted years ago for such unexpected events.

Once the bomb in the room exploded, the Magic Artifact instantly detected the explosive force in a hundredth of a second and deployed its barrier ability.

Unfortunately, the artifact's barrier only protected Ooro and the people closest to him in the room.

It did not protect the nobles nor their knights.

Fortunately for Aurea, he was far enough from the bomb to quickly cover himself with Aura instinctively.

Except for the mages and Aurea, everyone in the room died instantly from the explosion.

Having blown away the entire house, the survivors came to the scene outside.

Chaos.

Utter chaos.

Buildings were on fire.

Goblin soldiers were annihilated into pieces.

The impact craters were filled with rubble and parts of corpses, likely arriving there after being flung into the air due to the explosions.

The surviving goblins were a mess.

Whilst some were desperately running around and trying to figure out the situation, others were unable to process what had just happened and were staring blankly into nothing.

Of the 300,000 soldiers and knights, more than half of them were injured or dead.

"It's not over yet," murmured Lucky whilst staring at the chaos happening just 200ish meters away.

Though all 50 catapults shot, some of the bombs missed due to the encampment irregular shape.

"Catapults!!! Adjust your aims!!!!" Commanded Elena.

"Adjusting aim!!!"

"Adjusting aim!!!"

"Adjusting aim!!!!"

Then, she commanded, "Reload!!!"

As soon as she commanded those words, the catapults reloaded in sync.

"Reloaded!!!"

"Reloadeeeed!!!!"

"Reloadeddd!!!!!"

"Reeeloaadeeed!!!"

Then, Lucky whispered something in her ears.

She nodded and proceeded her new command, "VOLLEY FIRING!!!"
