Jasmin's POV
The moment those words left my lips, something dangerous flickered in Max's dark eyes. I realized exactly what I had just said, what I had revealed. He held my stare without wavering, as if challenging me to look away first. As if silently warning me that whatever fire I had just sparked between us would consume us both if I dared let it burn.
Then Harris's voice cut through the charged silence.
"Are we actually doing this right now?" His tone carried casual amusement, but the rigid set of his jaw revealed the cracks forming beneath his composed facade. He turned toward the Alpha instructors with his arms spread wide in disbelief.
"This whole situation has become completely ridiculous. I've been dragged into something that has absolutely nothing to do with me. Not even remotely."
His cold gaze found mine, and I saw something more lethal than rage glinting there, like a predator offended by being accused.
