Jasmin's POV
My breath caught in my throat as I stared at the figure beneath the delivery cap. "Isla," I whispered, disbelief coloring every syllable. "How did you manage this?"
She tilted her head up just enough for me to catch the familiar spark of mischief dancing in her dark eyes. "Have you forgotten that I'm practically a witch already?"
The relief that flooded through me was so intense I thought my legs might give out completely. My heart hammered against my ribs as she cast a nervous glance toward the imposing Academy structure looming behind us.
"My hands haven't stopped trembling since you called," she murmured, her voice barely audible. "The thought of you walking into this place alone, especially during your heat cycle, has been eating me alive with worry. I had to come see for myself that you were still breathing."
