Dom's POV
My heart actually stuttered when Max said those words. Highly probable she's from your world.
That meant... the woman I'd been in love with from my apartment might actually be here. Right here. In this world. Audrey—my Audrey—could be my step sister.
But then I saw Dave's face.
The way his eyes lit up. The barely concealed excitement he was trying so hard to hide behind that neutral mask. The way his entire energy shifted at Max's words.
Something cold settled in my stomach.
I kept my voice casual, but my eyes stayed locked on him. "Did you know audrey in the real world?"
Dave's expression flickered—just for a second. "Her face just seemed familiar. That's all. Same face as someone I might have seen around where i worked."
Familiar. Right. They worked at the same entertainment company. Sync Media. So he is right that her face is just familiar to him. They could have been coworkers. Friendly acquaintances. Or...
The thought crept in, unwelcome and sharp. Or lovers.
