The week finally arrived, and Section E was buzzing with tension. Exams. Just the thought made everyone scramble through their notes and flashcards. I found Jayjay already at her desk, pencils organized, her notes scattered neatly around her.
I leaned over, brushing a stray strand of hair from her face. "Ready for this, meddler?"
She shot me a playful glare. "Do I look nervous?"
"Maybe a little," I teased, pressing a quick kiss to her cheek. Her blush made me grin. "Don't worry, we've got this."
For the next few days, we studied hard. Sometimes we joked to ease the stress, sometimes we teased each other. One afternoon, I caught her off guard and pressed my lips softly to hers. "Concentrate, but don't forget to have fun," I whispered. She swatted my chest but couldn't hide her smile.
The exam day came. Sir Alvin walked in, and the usual Section E chaos quieted instantly. Papers were handed out, pencils scratched, and the room filled with tense concentration. I stole glances at Jayjay, who bit her lip in focus, and pressed a reassuring kiss to her temple.
By the time the test ended, sighs of relief filled the room. Jayjay laughed softly, leaning into me. "We survived."
[Friday – Results Announcement]
The following week, the cabin representative walked in, announcing that everyone should gather at the main hall to check their results. Section E hustled through the corridors, whispering nervously.
As the results were revealed, jaws dropped. Jayjay and I scored well, but what truly shocked everyone were the top scores — Adrian and his sister had aced almost everything. Whispers ran through the hall.
"Wow… they're… insanely smart," Rory muttered. Ci-N's mouth fell open. Even Jayjay and I exchanged impressed glances.
I wrapped an arm around her shoulder, stealing a quick kiss on her cheek. "Looks like we'll have to step up our game," I murmured.
Jayjay grinned, her eyes sparkling. "Or just have fun trying to keep up with them."
Section E buzzed with excitement and friendly teasing. Everyone was already talking about how to spend their two-week break, and I leaned closer to Jayjay. "So… about that island…"
Her smile widened. "Yes… let's make it unforgettable."
