Chapter 4 - Ch 4: Instincts

'Fuck my life'

I'm now surrounded by these wolves- one in front, one to my right and two behind me.

Maybe I will really die again… so what the hell is this? Am I supposed to just keep dying?

As I'm clearly showing that I'm nervous with cold sweat dripping off me I hear the most annoying sound in the world at that moment.

"Tch. Are you scared just off this?"

'Hell yea I'm about to die crazy old hag, help me if I'm your son!! What the hell is wrong with you, seriously I'm calling child protective services after thi-'

"These are only subforms and only 4. Don't tell me you seriously need my help with this? I can't even imagine that my own son is such a wimp."

"Fine. Fine, I don't need any help just watch u old h-…. Uh I mean mother."

As I said that I saw a serious burst of aura erupt out of her, the trees shook and even the sky quaked for a moment.

For a single moment I saw that darkness again like I was already back there in the space of nothing. For that single moment I was sure I was dead, gone just like that. This was the way I would die this time.

Gulp

The wolves didn't dare move, they just shook in fear already knowing they were dead too, the entire forest stopped as if knowing that this area would cease to exist.

Then came absolute calm, the enormous aura withdrawn back into her slim body like it never existed. Every sense of death gone and in front of me was a 20 something year old girl that stood 175cm … and maybe 60kg… scratch that. The last though never occurred to me. Nope. Nope. I only though about her height. The other thing… that's a death sentence to even think about.

Either way I'm amazed at how such a young beautiful girl can emit that aura… the aura of destruction.

Sigh. "Yea just do your best son."

I gave a small nod as I turned my attention back to the wolves, the wolves were still frozen in place shaking in front of the greater predator but as the aura retracted they slowly started becoming ferocious again.

'It's like they can't think, they know a bigger beast is standing right there but they don't notice it as soon as the aura is gone?'

They're pretty stupid now that I think about it and they only attack in one pattern, no coordination between them. But the way they look is so creepy, they're absorbing all the light and the no shadow… just feels creepy looking at them.

'Whatever let's just finish this. If only I had a katanaaa.'

The longsword is a bit heavy but still manageable, good weight balance. With this I should stab instead of slash, create a fatal wound by stabbing between the ribs of the wolf. When I slashed upwards the first time I barely grazed the wolf's belly, it's like the sand it's made of makes it sturdier and stronger. Simple slashes won't do anything to it… how do I know any of this? Well instincts.

No time to think, the wolves regained they're posture and are eyeing me like candy right now, and that lady… no where to be found.

"Tch, come at me bastards."

I step forward toward the wolf facing me, eyeing the one to my right and keeping my ears open for any sound from behind me. No movement so far…. I'm closing the distance with the first wolf, maybe 4 steps away now. The ones behind me haven't moved, I even turned my head for a quick second to confirm, they're about 20 steps behind me. The one to my right as I quickly check it from my peripheral vision…

Thud thud thud

Thud

The one to my right is charging at me full speed, the one in front starts jumping as soon as that happens. Behind me… I still hear nothing but no time to think, step to my left rotating my body to the right and then

Slash

A diagonal slash from my top left to bottom right, I'm just used to this movement like I have a katana in my hand…. But the wolf, the one who got slashed in its belly earlier… now is slashed across its throat.

Gushhhhh

Blood sprays out from its neck as it stumbles for a few steps. 'Fuck is it still alive after that.'

No time to think again- the wolf from my right now in front of me because of the way I twisted my body jumps at my face. This one is stronger and faster, maybe because it wasn't injured and I have no time to dodge.

Crack

I fall on my back staring into the wolf's eyes, amethyst into gold. My sword in a guard position as the wolf is on top of my trying to overpower me to literally take a bite out of my face.

'Terrifying'

I'm for sure gonna die… I glance to the other two wolfs to my right now. They look hungry… they start walking towards me, I can almost see smiles on their faces. Like they're about to get free dinner.

'Like hell I'm gonna let that happen!' I look back at the wolf on top of me, it's fucking smiling… I'm starting to get annoyed. I knee the beast stomach then extent my leg into a kick… it barely pushes the wolf off me. Just barely enough for my to get a better grip on my sword but the wolf steps back like it's enjoying this, just toying with its prey. Then he jumps at me again as I manage to roll left away from the other two.

I get on my feet when I see the three wolves in front of me, now together and unified. This is literally hell but I can't give up now, I don't want to die again, not like this.

Fuuuu

I let out a breath and let my instincts take over, my brain going into overdrive and my eyes watching every minuscule movement, every twitch of a muscle, every rustle of a leaf in the wind.

Then I charge at the wolf at the left, as I do that the two other wolfs jump into my path… Perfect.

I stop on my heel, plant my feet and take a step back as I raise my sword above my head. The wolf in the middle landed right in front of me barely missing me as I stepped back. The wolf all the way to the right was just behind him and next to that one was the one I was charging at still with his feet planted.

But none of that matters right now… after all my prey just landed in front of me. Almost by accident I went to slash its neck but as I was arcing my sword down, I pointed its tip straight down and the sword….

Stabbed straight into its neck, blood dripping down the blade.

'This one is for sure dead'

As I said that my head tilded toward the first wolf that I injured, and it was on the ground… its chest rising up and down like it was on its last breath. His body lay in a pool of blood, and those golden eyes now lost their spark. He looked like a lost dog who was abandoned and died in the streets starved to death, his feet twitching with small breaths coming from his mouth. The place where his throat was slashed was simply red, the grey sand like substance that created its body and fur… now dyed red. Blood Red.

"Good that bastard is going to bleed out" as I said that for some reason a small smile formed on my face, my lips twitching up… by instinct.
