Chapter 8 - Ch 8: Perfect Life

Lucien was cautious when asked to be adopted, but then he remembered the suffering in the orphanage. He remembered how he ran and ran till his will gave out and he passed out, how lucky it was that this couple found him.

He decided to accept their name be it for the better or worse… because right now it was a way to survive. A way to survive for a boy barely 10 years old with nothing to his name in a cruel world.

The next year was awkward for the boy as he hesitated to get attached to his parents or anyone else, the boy simply had never known love.

His parents provided him with everything he could possibly want and he learned more about them and their circumstances soon after.

The couple found Lucien passed out as they were taking a drive in the early morning so they brought him to a hospital, the man was military and apparently a high ranking one too so he had conducted investigations into the boy.

They found out that he escaped the facity that burned down near the border in North Korea and had crossed the border somehow into the South…

The woman was a third generation heir to a huge conglomerate that operated worldwide, in fact it was the biggest the South Korea and among the top 10 worldwide. A truly massive scale.

They were a perfect couple but simply had one problem… the woman could not give birth.

They had just returned from overseas when they found the boy and after finding out his background they decided to adopt him if the boy agreed.

Lucien learned all of this as soon as he got settled in to his new home, his new parents did not want to hide anything.

Lucien took full advantage of his new situation… after all he had any resource he could ever want. Most boys at 10 would use it to buy games and spend time goofing off, but Lucien was different.

He had seen the bottom, he had a drive inside him. A drive to stand at the top and look down, so he spent his time reading and learning.

He had basic knowledge from his time at the orphanage as they had educated him because he showed promise.

He spent all his time on his tablet, laptop, or reading books he ordered online. They were not just any books, these were educational books… by the time the boy was about to be 14 he had more knowledge than most adults their respective fields.

Lucien was smart… extremely smart, so much so that it was scary. He hid it mostly because he knew it wasn't normal. His photographic memory that recalled everything he saw or read, the way his brain picked up concepts by instinct… not just memorizing but by deriving the concepts from the building blocks he started with.

So the boy spent all his time learning, stacking blocks… one by one. He layed a solid foundation, one that would never crack. Then he built up block by block until it reached the starts.

Mathematics- arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre calculus, calculus, differential equations- PDE, ODE, and he kept on going…

Science- biology, chemistry, organic, etc, etc…

Physics- kinematics, dynamics, statics, optics, electromagnetics, quantum mechanics, etc. He even started solid state physics but never got to finish it.

He learned all the information the world had to offer… I'm fact he absorbed it like a sponge and he enjoyed it, the feeling of rising above in information and learning the mysteries of the world.

He was particularly interested in the STEM subjects, like they spoke to him… gave him an insight of the world he lived in. The boy had a desire to understand everything, in intricate details.

By the time Lucien was 16 years old he had all the knowledge to study any type of engineering he wanted and he layed out a plan for it.

He started with the one thing he was most interested in… computers.

The world was advanced, so advanced that it seemed like magic… phones, internet, the connectivity across the world. Waves traveling in the air carrying information in milliseconds, and trillions maybe more of information from different sources and receivers. Some encrypted, some not… some sensitive information and others everyday chatter all happening every second using computers.

To cut stuff short… Lucien became a master of computers and computer engineering, both frontend and backend… mostly backend, and used his knowledge to do a lot of stuff. Some good and others… morally grey?

Lucien was in the middle of learning chemical engineering as that was the one he found most interesting when he unfortunately… died.

Lucien was a genius among geniuses, a monster among monsters… his was the type of talent seen only once every myriad. Maybe it was a talent born only once in all of history…

This was because he was not only a nerd but also extremely popular, he started high school at 15 in a prestigious high school in Korea.

The boy had black hair and black eyes but his facial features, height, and lean but muscular body set him apart. He was undoubtedly handsome among his peers, he could easily become an idol when he grows up.

He was athletic in every sport, and excelled academically… to say he was popular would be understating it.

A couple months after he started school was when he met his first- and last girlfriend. She was the prettiest girl in school and was a year older than him. She had white hair with a pale face, and crimson eyes. Her eyes were what drew the boy to pursue her, those beautiful crimson eyes drew him in. She was also hot in every other way… tall and with a beautiful figure and apparently her family was influential though not as much as his.

After a couple months or years… on pursuing her they started dating and he even ended up being her first…

Was she his first?

And just like that- Lucien had a dream life by his 18th birthday, a life that would make anyone jealous.

He had just graduated high school and-

He had all the money he could ever want being the heir to one of the top 10 conglomerates worldwide, he had the looks to get girl he wanted…if he wanted to because his girlfriend was a future elite- and basically a 11/10. To top it all off was if course his genius intellect, the boy would be successful no matter what he decided to pursue.

Due to his fathers military background he was also trained in combat, and on the side he learned swordsmanship.

Well he did not have a mentor or anything like that… one day he simply picked up a katana- a tachi.

He decided he would look cool if he learned it so after dinner- right before he went to bed he would go to a gym close to the penthouse he lived in and he would practice the tachi.

Swinging it and looking at himself in the mirror to see how he would look like coolest, one thing he was particularly interested in was counterattacking. Dodging at the last moment and using that to swing just once- once would be enough.

Well he never got to try his technique out seeing the world he lived in, even if he was in combat he would surely use guns. But he found it cool so he practiced diligently every night… maybe he started practicing with a tachi a year before he died.

In the end he died. The conclusion of all this is simply death.

In the most absurd way possible too…

The most perfect life ended in an instant.

[Host are you ready?]

'Ready for what you bastard? Didn't you see how fucking perfect my life was… and now look at me. I die over and over again just to come back to this place and remember what I used to have…'

[….]

'What can't speak now? You won't tell me anything about who I am or why I die. You know what it feels like to experience 4 deaths already? It's a fucking miracle my mind is still sane!'

[Host… I understand what it feels like to die… but you need to remember… and help me remember]

'Help you remember what bastard? And what do you mean you know what it's like to die?'

[…]

'Tch. Fine don't tell me… I'm ready.'

[Host you must remember and endure.]
