As I learned more about the situation, I realised how much I had missed this whole thing last time I played this quest.
Since I had sufficient strength, and the Witch was barely level 40 back then, I was able to slay her with ease. Thus, completing the quest with barely any rewards.
At that time all my focus was on the Time-Seer Class so all other quests felt pretty useless to me. But if I had paid attention to this settlement… I sighed at my previous naivety. I had no idea that having a settlement would provide much more benefit than anyone could have imagined.
There were many benefits such as world Reputation, NPCs' favour, special quests and connections. There were also Hideouts, special weapons on discount, etc. The list was endless…
And by the time I realised this… it was already too late.
"I understand. I will talk to the witch, as well as see if I can find out if there is anything I can do against the Elder," I spoke as the duo smiled at my words.
[Favourability with Lloyd increased by 5]
[Favourability with Tierra increased by 10]
"Though for now, I would like to go hunt some monsters and get stronger. I would like to increase my chances of survival, you know?" I said with a knowing smile before I waved them and moved out of the house.
[Ezekiel: I am going for a hunt.]
I sent the message as I pondered if I should join the player trio or go deeper into the forest to hunt zombies. One was easy but slow, while the other was fast but risky.
[Blaze: Should we come here?]
And then pondering about the whole Witch situation, I decided to go hunt some weaker monsters. I already have the desired Level 7 for the first quest. Plus since there is a chance, I can interact with the player community, even if it's through a stream. The more solid the image I make, the more help I can get from the players later on… and the more they would believe my words later on.
Plus given the Witch's arrival during the night, I should be able to level up at least once, lucky if two, with the number of zombies we will be facing. I gave it a quick calculation before answering Blaze.
[Ezekiel: No, I will be joining you. Just send me your location on the map.]
A few seconds after that, a blinker activated on my map showing the location of Blaze about 500 meters south of the settlement. Since it wasn't too far, I decided to walk slowly while observing the situation around me.
It doesn't seem out of place. I mumbled as I looked at the houses, the pathway and the few people working here and there. Except for the low population, which was barely reaching 20 in this settlement, most things seem pretty fine. If not for the quests and such, it would have been really hard to find out what's going on within the settlement.
Outside the settlement, on the southern path that took me to the nearest town, I observed a few slimes in the distance, a few more foxes and a deer that ran away as soon as it saw me. The density of trees also reduced to some extent but it was still a forest path for as far as my eyes could see.
Walking down the trail, I soon came across a right-angled intersection, where one path took to the left while the other took to the right. At the centre, there was a huge wooden pole with three guideposts on it.
Westwood Forest - Current Location
Inara Settlement(400 metres), Whispering Woods(500 metres) - Pointed in the direction where I came from.
Regia Town(5 kilometres), Umber Grasslands(8 kilometres) - Pointed to the left side.
Murkus Desert(2 kilometres), Murkus City(5 kilometres) - Pointed on the Right side.
[Locations Added to the Map!]
The Map function only added things that you knew, were quest-related or perhaps someone had shared their location. Everything else was either left blank, or was blurred in case of any special situations. In my case, my map showed the Inara Settlement and a portion of the Whispering Woods where the zombies were.
Hunting should be possible but I doubt I can get out of the area because of the curse. I wonder what the limit of the area that I can trail to is. I then slowly walked towards the place where the Trio was hunting the monsters, and within the next few minutes, I saw 7 goblins surrounding them with Raven and Blaze barely holding their ground. Link was already on the ground, panting as he tried to recollect his breath.
Reminds me of my newbie days. A smile formed on my face as I walked closer to them, taking out my dagger. I softened my steps to sneak as close as possible.
It was always the wise choice.
To kill a few enemies before the main battle begins, that is.
