Chapter 31 - How to upgrade your skills?

Skills are indispensable in Arcadia, a unique type of power system that could help you design your own personal playstyle, no matter what you want to accomplish in this game.

It could range from garbage collecting to killing dragons, could be as simple as walking or cooking, or could be as unique as Shadow Dance or Saint's Healing Tears, a skill that gives 5 Revives and 500% health to the target.

As for their division, many classify them based on Mana or Stamina Usage. Others name them based on how they were acquired. Through a quest, through training and repetition or perhaps through their Class Upgrades.

Each has a unique set of rules that they follow, which is essential to learn, if one wants to upgrade the Skill to its most potentially useful form.

Uniquely enough, a skill can be upgraded to many different forms depending upon how they are conditioned or grown. Some may increase a certain aspect of the skill such as mana usage, while others' methods may increase the power of the skill. How you work with it, and what you want with it plays a very, very important role in it.

I looked at the Trio as they told me the descriptions of the few skills they possessed. Linc had 2, Raven had 4 while Blaze had 5 of them, but since there was a time limit, I believed it would be best to focus on a single skill only.

It would be great if we could upgrade a skill at least twice, but for now, let's make sure to get the first upgrade through. I assessed the trio before looking at skills that, right now, were the best for each of them to work on.

"Link. You need to upgrade the [Heal]. You have been using that skill since the start, and it would be better to focus on that," I said as I observed him before taking a good look at the skill once again.

[Heal(Basic)

Effects: Heals 10 HP at an instance

Mana Cost: 5 MP

Remarks: A Basic Utility skill that even mothers have in their home but never use… because everyone has a better option at this point.]

Since the stream was already off, much to the disappointment of the viewers, I did not worry about everyone knowing these basic tricks.

Well. Even if it were to be leaked, I still would be a few steps ahead since I won't be sharing even half of the knowledge I have. I focused on Link before adding,

"Though this time, heal everything with a slight concept in mind. 'I am increasing the regeneration process of the organism through Light as a catalyst.' And try to visualise the process as much as you can. Once you succeed in doing that, try to imagine the process getting faster every second."

A neat trick to understand the concept of healing, and its implementation is enough for skills like this to show their true potential.

Then turning to Raven, I took a look at her skill.

[Runes(Basic)

-Strength Based: Increases the attack of the item by 10%

-Vitality Based: Increases the Vitality of the item holder by 10%

-Agility Based: Increases the Agility of the holder of the item by 10%

Duration: 1 hour!

Mana Cost: 10 MP

Remarks: The basic lifeline of all runesmiths!]

She also has the Rune Warrior Class where the effects are doubled when she herself uses the skills. I felt like it was a balanced class. If she gets a good subclass, the combination might make her one of the most capable players in the game.

"In your case, do you see the strange symbols appearing on the weapon after you use the skill?" I asked with a focused expression, to which she nodded before showing me the weapon.

"Try to repeat the symbol using your mana only. If possible, try to make it a bit longer than before. You may not get a new rune, but your current runes might get stronger," I added wondering if she knew how to pour in mana into the weapon.

Recalling that [RuneSmiths] class had a skill based on that, I had a guess that she too may have that skill.

Raven politely nodded and took out another dagger of a similar kind as before. And as directed she began pouring mana where she tried redrawing the symbols on the weapon copying what had already appeared on the other one.

Lastly.

I looked at the excited face of Blaze, the Spearman of our group.

While he is slightly above average, compared to Raven, I can't let him directly participate in the main fight against the Witch. He would be crushed immediately. I apologised internally before choosing the skill that would be the most useful given our current situation.

[Throw(Basic)

Effects: Allows the user to throw his weapon at the target, doing 300% of the damage.

Cost: 10 Stamina

Remarks: A last attempt to survive, or the best choice you could have made?]

It was a skill that he got when I asked him to throw the weapon at an Elite Goblin in front of him. Since the distance in between wasn't much, he killed it pretty easily, thus getting the skill.

And given the huge firepower of the skill, this was the best option he had if he wanted to contribute to the main fight later on.

He doesn't seem disappointed though. I smiled as I looked at the excited expression even more enthusiastically as I told him about the skill upgrade method. Which was simply to adjust his posture and balance each time he threw the spear.

Now that this is done, I should focus on getting the next skill I had in mind.

And that was…
