Chapter 22 - Matter of Trust

I looked at the trio, observing me carefully, waiting for me to explain more about the words that I had just spoken.

Normally I would have taken this whole thing for myself, but honestly, if I don't tell them and they get to know on their own through other means, they would be more of a hindrance than help. Plus there are ways they can be useful too. I reached this conclusion as I began explaining to them about the quest that I had gotten in the beginning, and things that I have learnt up until now.

Additionally, the story about the Witch would make for an interesting streaming theme, enough to garner attention to my name.

Looking at them staring blankly at the space in front of them, it seemed that they might have received the quest about the Witch too.

Though based on the appearance of the Witch means that she might show her first appearance within the settlement tonight. Given their low levels, I doubt I need to worry about them defeating her. I sighed inside as I then pondered about one other thing that I was thinking about.

About the oddity that I was feeling within the settlement. I must check that today before the Witch begins her raid. There might be some hidden rewards I could gain from this settlement if possible.

"I received the quest. So, what should we do now? It says to collect the information… but we don't have enough favourability so I don't know if the people in the settlement will really tell us anything," Joshua spoke with an embarrassed expression. Though this was something that I had already expected.

While there are still 3 hours till evening comes, I guess with the appearance of the Witch, meeting Lloyd should provide some information. I decided to meet Lloyd and ask what he was talking about.

"You guys have two choices here. One is that you can follow me and you may or may not gather information from the NPCs, though I should mention that the NPCs might not want to tell you guys anything given your low favourability.. The other is to go south from the settlement where you will find stray monsters to level up a bit," I gave them the choices, making them ponder about it in detail.

If they truly wanted to participate in the quest, it would have surely been a good choice for them to level up to 5 first but now? I doubt that they can do that before tonight. Blaze maybe, but others won't be able to. On the other hand, there was also a high chance that Lloyd might kick them out before giving me information.

Blaze seemed to be getting into a deep thought before a slight sigh escaped his mouth. Then with a kind smile, he turned to me and spoke,

"Thank you, Ezekiel. Most players won't even share the information that you have, and yet you are ready to do more than that. For that, we are truly thankful. As for the choices, especially given the level difference between us, I think it would be better to gain some levels first."

[Blaze has sent you a Friend Request]

[Accept/Reject]

"I will send you a friend request first, so while you collect information on your quest, we will be levelling up. Though, please give us a call when you are ready to go on a hunt, streaming your hunt would surely get us more views than just the story. We can always add the story in our UTube videos after the whole thing is over, haha!" Blaze said as he then looked at Link who was agreeing with him.

The duo then turned around and left from there as they waved at me. As for the quiet girl, Raven, she too bowed to me before leaving from there while I smiled at them.

Such cute kids. It would be good to nurture them. I accepted their friend request as I watched them vanish on the other side of the settlement.

"All right. Let's see what this quest has in store for us."

"You were quite mature there," Gregory spoke as he looked at Joshua a bit embarrassed. He understood that Joshua really wanted to join Ezekiel in finding the information about the quests and much more. Even the comments were all forcing the streamer to join Ezekiel.

But it wasn't the right choice.

"If we become greedy now, we will only be a burden to him. That way we might end up losing him faster than ever," Joshua spoke out his mind as he gave a pressed smile before turning to Raven as he asked,

"Miss Raven, are you sure you want to come with us? Unlike Ezekiel, we aren't exactly great players."

It wasn't that Joshua wanted Raven to go away, but he still thought that he needed to ask her. Based on her answer, he can measure how much she trusts them, and how far this party can last.

"Good synergy with you both. Plus our levels are closer," Raven answered before turning quiet again.

A smile formed on Joshua and Gregory's faces as the three silently kept walking towards the direction Ezekiel had pointed them to.
