Chapter 6 - Scouting the Area

Well, it has been 3 days now since I found myself in this world. New form, new life, and all of that.

Food has not been hard to find, as the same sort of coconut tree thing has been appearing close to my lair. I'm really glad that I didn't have to go so far to get food, even though the taste of said food is getting a bit stale and boring to eat.

I really should see to it that I can find something else to eat besides these things. Speaking of, they only move during the day; at night, they stand motionless and quiet, hence why I didn't hear them or notice them at all.

I only found out during the second day when I scouted the area, and it was getting dark. So waited a bit and noticed a few of them suddenly going still as a well...log. Soon, the rest followed as well, so now I found out why I didn't notice them at all.

This world is weird.

...Might try and scout out the area while I am at it.

So I did that and went on my merry way, as I made sure to remember where my lair is located as I left the area and went into the foliage that was east of where I am. That was when I found out just how weird this place was.

There were a few things, like plants having predatory-like features like fangs, sharp thorns, and spear-like stingers that look deadly to anyone else but me, since that thing didn't hurt me at all. But each strike it did tingled my soft insides, though. I ignored that and continued my merry way.

The next thing I found was a few rivers filled with who knows what, as I didn't even try to take a look, I am not that stupid to look. I think I remember something bad would always happen to something that looked at the river's edge and died a horrible way.

As I passed that, I then found a few living things, though I think they are normal. These things didn't possess any weird features like the Eel or Coconut things.

The thing I was talking about was these monkeys, I think, as they swing about the place on the tree tops as I walk by. They have features that any normal monkey would have, like having a tail and four limbs that they use to swing about.

They are also loud, as their cries and hollers filled the area. I know why they would do this, as I was the reason why. Given the fact that they sensed me, I guess they would have honed this sense of there's to avoid something like me. Animals usually have a sharp sense of danger to avoid danger.

This would also mean that there are beings here that might be similar to that eel. But that only happened because the area was devoid of life.

But here it would seem that sea and land territories among beings like me or the Eel are different.

Also ow! One of the monkeys tosses a rock at my left eye. That stung a bit.

So with a deep exhale, I picked up a decent-sized rock, which was a bit large for any normal-sized human, I think. And tossed it at a tree, which made the monkeys flee the area altogether...that and I think I used a bit too much force in that throw...it punched a hole through a tree trunk the size of a basketball...

...was I this strong?... Oh yeah, I forgot about that fact.

I was strong in the sense that I was able to fight toe to toe against that Eel, which was a bit stronger than me, though I should have noticed that as well when I plucked up that coconut thing a few days past. I should try to lower that a bit for now, oops. Yikes, I think one of those monkeys just fainted.

That monkey was one of the monkeys that were throwing stones at me a moment ago. I guess karma struck its, oh wait, his nerves when I did that. I guess it wouldn't do anything like that for the time being. What do you know, I just gave a monkey PTSD...I think? Or just plain old scared to death, fainting.

...I should leave this place for now. I'll return on a later date when I need to.

With that, I went back, as I didn't want to continue, as I just wanted to return to my lair before things got chaotic for me.

Those monkeys would've definitely attracted something due to how loud they are. So it was obvious that I should leave immediately and continue this scouting journey on another date. Should get a few foodstuffs as well. I just passed by some berries and a few tasty fruits as well.

Some of those should be edible, while the rest should not be for obvious reasons. Who in their right mind would just shove unknown berries into their mouth?

My current body may be able to eat that sort of thing, but I wouldn't try it. Even if I was hungry and starving, I sort of remember a few things about some berries being poisonous and can cause death to a person or living thing. Anyone would argue that some berries can be eaten by certain animals, but there's a problem. Yes, certain animals can eat those types of berries, but only those animals; the rest would die eating those.

So once again, no, I would not risk that fatal injury to myself. But those I am sort of familiar with, I could try, I guess.

I thought as I saw a few white, green, and deep blue ones...on a second thought, I'll just stick to my living greens for the time being. Or if I am lucky, some normal meat as well.
