Chapter 11 - Exploration Continues

That nap sure did wonders for me, as I had quite a lot of stuff that I had just done. At least I was able to find out what would have happened if I had just let those coconut things be. Still, I ain't calling them with a name or anything, as I do not care.

I guess for me and any stronger creatures around here, these things would be somewhat of a snack, while for the inhabitants, they see it as a delicious delicacy that they want to eat. Cause that is the only explanation I have as to why the chaos of yesterday happened.

Note to self, I need to dig a little deeper for my storage area since that happened to the pile I had just left yesterday. Don't want that to happen here, too.

That and there might be a chance that my stash of food might attract something else dangerous than that urchin or Eel. At least I was able to kill the urchin, though.

So, as such, I might have to widen my lair just a little bit and make it a bit deeper. Relocating now might not be a good thing since there might be a chance that I would get ambushed by something along the way.

Would not want to fight it as well. I don't want it to become a thing that always happens to me every week in this place.

Speaking of which, I could try and explore a bit, though. I went a couple of miles without any altercation, though, so maybe moving out might be a better choice...nah. Too lazy to build a new lair at this point. I'll make a new one if a tragedy happens to my current one.

Just gotta make sure that there won't be anything that gets too close to it. So I might have to pluck some of those coconut things while I am at it. Those things are really quick to grow around the place. At least they have been my sustenance for the past days, so I guess that's a plus.

Well, no use just lying down here for now. I should try to explore a bit of the area once more. Maybe I would be able to get far enough, but I know for sure that I might encounter something hostile.

There might be a possibility on that one, since with my track record, that is possible.

As such, I emerge out of my lair only to not be surprised that there are a few more coconut things there close by my lair.

These things really do grow like some garden weeds. As such, like them, I started plucking them one at a time. Since I didn't have the patience to dig a hole, I simply threw them into the sea as far away as I could.

Lazy, I know, but with how much it takes to create a huge hole, I did not want to waste any more energy than I had to with what I am about to go through. I need an okay amount of energy to go beyond the area that I had encountered a few days ago, and that might make me tired.

The past fight I have just gone through has made me realize just how much I need to conserve my energy, since if I fight something and I am dead tired during that fight. Then I am simply easy prey for them to feast upon. Wouldn't go down that easily, though, but still.

Putting those thoughts aside as I was done using the coconut things as some sort of skipping stones, I first went to where I buried those coconut things from yesterday's chaos. I expected something had happened since those monkeys and birds were at each other's throats for it, so they might have dug a few out.

And I was right, as once I arrived there, I found a few small holes scattered around where I had buried those things.

I approached one of the holes and found out that it still had something in it. A monkey...that looked like it had been through so much, as it had only one eye, no tail, one arm, but at least it still had its two functional legs, though. Still seeing what had happened to that monkey was a bit disturbing, so I quickly left the area and continued with my journey.

This will haunt me a bit. I did expect these animals to literally go wild for these things.

I continued forward towards the jungle at a steady pace. There, once more, I encountered a few of the things I had found during my last trek here.

I did make sure to put a few marks on some of the stuff I have walked through since I do not want to get lost, like what almost happened to me last time.

As I was getting deeper and deeper, my size was not a bother to me, as there were a couple of clearings and the trees weren't that close to one another that I had to cut or push them aside.

But there are a few trees that I was hesitant to even try to cut down. There are ones that have a row of sharp-looking spikes all around them, which may be able to harm me if I am not too careful around them. Some are covered in what I can only deduce as some sort of mucus membrane that might cause me harm as well, since it has some sort of harmful chemical.

The plants weren't any better, as quite a lot of them, besides having the usual spike, looked more animal-like than plant, as some looked like a massive Venus flytrap. Some even have what looks like vines that are swaying about like some sort of tentacle.

...This place is weird. At least I am not being affected by some of these. But I still need to be careful, though, since some of it might.

With careful steps, I continued forward while still leaving a few marks.
