This little exertion took quite a bit out of me, as my wounds would attest to it. I had already expected something like this to have happened, but not to the extent where I was riddled with slashes around my body. So, of course, I needed to make sure that once I was healed, I would take note of what was around me.
Last time I ignored it, I then found myself face-to-face with this thing on my back. The brown spider that I was lucky enough to have bitten to death. If it were not so weak, I would have been dead where I stand.
Actually, given how sharp this thing's claws are, it ain't so weak as one would think it is. Well, at least I didn't get on the end of its fangs, that would kill me in an instant, or worse, I would suffer a horrible death. Unless it had venom to begin with.
At least now, with the corpse on my back, I could extract some of those useful parts as either my tools or weapons. Like what I am going to make out of that urchin shell. That thing would have been great as a shield with its spike and sturdy frame.
Actually, the more I gather these things, the better my chances are to survive this heck of a place I now find myself in. This feels like the time I played a game with something similar to what I am doing now. I feel both nostalgic and a bit sad remembering that specific thing...still can't remember who I once was though...now back to having more sad thoughts...oh, and wincing every hour or so due to the pain...
...I'll put arts and crafts aside for the moment; my attention should be to make sure my wounds are tended to. I gathered some plants as well that I vaguely remember can be used to patch up my wounds. I will have to check once more to make sure that these are the ones that I need, since there might be a chance that I would poison myself because of it.
But I still checked for anything that was something I knew that would still help me. I did pick up one that has these triangle-shaped leaves and was oozing out this viscous gel-like substance. Another was a flower that looked similar to one that was used as a sort of medicinal remedy for wound healing and disinfection.
If you can't tell that I am just winging whatever I was picking, then you should really realize it. But I still made sure that what I picked was something that looked familiar to me.
This journey of mine took a few minutes before I was finally home. Those signs for me to trace my steps back to where I am. At least now I wouldn't have to worry about getting lost, so long as I follow the trails that I left behind.
Now, once I get back to my lair, I could simply mind my own business, take a well-deserved rest, and make sure that the plants that I picked up wouldn't kill me. That and maybe process this spider along with it.
After a few minutes, I was able to get back to my lair. Still, there was nothing out of place aside from the fact that there were still a few of those coconut things spurting around the place again. Oh well, that was something I had expected to be a common occurrence as I set aside the spider corpse and then proceeded with checking the plants I picked up.
That took a while to sort because of my cloudy memory, but I was able to finally separate what would kill me and what wouldn't. A couple were edible enough for me to eat safely, so I munch on a few of those. One even had a ripe banana aftertaste, which lightened up my mood a bit. But the rest just tasted bitter, which I just forced myself to swallow...anyway.
The rest I smashed together by chewing on it into a paste, which I then applied to my wounds, which stung quite a lot. But I held on as this was one of the only ways I knew where I wouldn't die of my wounds, which were on my face. So it was hard not to try to wash it off with how much it stung my face.
At least I still have some to use later on.
Which also reminds me that I still have some time to process that spider corpse I had to carry along. Now I know that a few spiders can be eaten, and the fact that I have already drunk some of this spider's blood means that it's safe for consumption.
So I placed it on a flat surface of a boulder and then proceeded with pulling off the legs first. Next, the abdomen is separated from the main body and head. Then, with the squished head, I pulled off its fangs, which were hard since I was a bit nervous picking things up with my pinchers, but I was able to pull them off and set them beside the rest of the legs.
Of course, you would expect this to be a clean affair...then you're wrong, as my pinchers were now covered in the spider's blood. I really should have drained the blood first before I started with portioning each of the spider's parts.
The head and body would be food, so I will have to store them in my storage area for now. The fangs...I'll just set them aside for now since I do not know what to use them for. Now, for the claws and legs, I could make a weapon out of them.
Not a sword, though, since who in their right mind would be able to make a sword out of these claws? I mean, I did recall that in the history of some country, they used these parts like teeth and fangs as the bladed edges of their clubs for extra lethality. That would work.
I will need a sturdy base, though, since if I simply use normal wood, then that would be easily snapped off by any powerful beast, so I'll need it to be sturdy and strong to handle such a thing.
Maybe if I am lucky enough, I might be able to get a bone to turn into the base of this club of mine. So for now, I will just have to store it somewhere for the time being. Or I could search for a sturdy tree trunk since those would be a great substitute for now.
So I did that and looked for a good tree to use for my weapon. Along the way, I picked off a few of those coconut things and simply threw them as far away as I could.
Don't care where those things land, as all I care about is to make sure to remove them from the area of my lair.
I was finally able to get the right tree trunk, which took a while to carve into the right size. It was now about the same length as me, since if it were longer, then I wouldn't be able to use it in enclosed areas.
I carried it back, took out the claws, and proceeded to attach them to it. I was able to do this by using some sturdy vines and tree sap I found that was sticky enough to attach stuff to the handle I made.
With that, I now have a weapon to use against anything I face. Now I need to think of how I would be able to hold the urchin shell since it was still hollow inside. That would just be something I'll do tomorrow, as the sun was now setting, and I need to take a well-deserved rest after all I have done today.
Although I had a hard time sleeping cause of the self-made medical paste I made still stung my face.
