Chapter 16 - A Love Too Wild, A Loss Too Cruel

Ren and Denial's love deepened with every passing day. Their intimacy had grown beyond physical — it was a fusion of obsession, longing, and something darker that neither dared name.

But time had its own plan.

The cursed fifteen days had returned once again — that stretch of time when Denial would mysteriously distance himself.

This time, Ren insisted.

He wanted to accompany Denial, to finally meet his parents and introduce himself not as a lover, but as a co-worker. A subtle lie to blend into Denial's past.

But Denial refused.

"Next time," he had said gently.

Ren, though disappointed, agreed. For him, even the wait was worth it.

During those fifteen days, Ren would sleep hugging Denial's shirt — the only thing that carried his scent.

He missed him.

Ached for him.

Every night.

And then, finally — Denial returned.

The moment Ren saw him at the door, he didn't wait. He pushed Denial against the wall, his lips crashing into his like a man starved.

"I missed you so fucking much," Ren murmured between breathless kisses.

Denial didn't resist.

He couldn't.

And just like that, they were in bed again — tangled in sheets, gasping, moaning, forgetting everything else in the heat of each other.

Life slowly settled into something dangerously close to happiness.

With the money Denial made from his antique shop, he gifted Ren a house — a real, private place for them.

And for himself, Denial bought a car.

They were now more than lovers.

They lived like husbands.

The world didn't accept them — society sneered, judged, whispered.

But Ren and Denial didn't care.

They belonged to each other. That was all that mattered.

Until that day.

Ren was walking out of university when she appeared again — the girl who had long crushed on him. Without warning, she pulled Ren into a bold lip kiss — right in front of everyone.

Including Denial.

Who stood frozen. Watching. Boiling inside.

Ren shoved the girl away.

"What the hell are you doing?! I've told you a thousand times — I'm not interested!"

But the damage was done.

Denial had seen.

And something inside him snapped.

Without a word, Denial stormed over, grabbed Ren's wrist tightly and dragged him to the car, tossing him inside and driving them home in a fury.

Silence.

Tension.

As soon as they entered, Denial pinned Ren to the wall, eyes wild with possessiveness.

"So this is what you do behind my back? Let girls kiss you in public?!"

"Denial, listen to me—"

"No! YOU listen!" Denial roared, shoving him onto the bed.

In a blur, he tore Ren's shirt open, ignoring his protests.

Ren tried to calm him down.

"I love you. Only you. I don't even look at anyone else!"

But Denial wasn't hearing him.

His jealousy had turned into rage.

His rage turned into mad desire.

He pinned Ren down, forced himself onto him with aggressive kisses, rough touches — desperate to mark him, to remind him,

"You're mine. Only mine."

Ren moaned, whimpered, tried to keep up — but something wasn't right.

Denial was too rough.

Too lost in his emotions.

So lost… that he didn't even notice when Ren's breathing started to weaken.

Didn't notice when Ren's body stopped responding.

Didn't notice... the silence.

Until, after everything, Denial leaned in to kiss Ren again...

And realized… Ren wasn't breathing.

"Ren…?"

No response.

Panic surged through Denial as he shook him.

"Ren?! Baby, wake up! Please! Wake up!!"

When Ren didn't stir, Denial screamed for help. A doctor was called.

He didn't care about anything — he just wanted Ren to open his eyes again.

When the doctor arrived and checked, his face turned grim.

"He's gone."

"WHAT?!" Denial gasped. "No… no, he was just breathing… we just… I—"

The doctor looked at Denial sharply.

"Who are you to him?"

Denial choked on his words. "I'm… his boyfriend."

There was a pause.

Then judgment.

"A boyfriend? You mean… a relationship between two men?"

The doctor's tone dripped with disgust.

Denial ignored it.

"Please… please check him again! Please—!"

After another inspection, the doctor confirmed:

"He died from cardiac arrest. Brought on by excessive stress. And..." he hesitated, "…aggressive physical activity."

Then came the threat.

"If I report this, it could become a criminal case. If you want this to go away... I need something in return."

Denial, dazed and full of guilt, didn't argue.

He handed over a fat bundle of cash.

The doctor scribbled a fake suicide note, put it in Denial's hand, and walked out silently.

Denial collapsed beside Ren's body.

He clutched him, crying hysterically, whispering apologies over and over.

"It's my fault… I killed you… I'm sorry… I'm so sorry…"

But Ren was gone.

And Denial…

was left alone.

Again.
