Chapter 19 - The Businessman and the Fallen Star

The very moment Denial's eyes fell upon her, something shifted inside him.

What a breathtaking woman… he thought silently, locking eyes with her from across the crowded bar. His heart clenched, not with desire, but with denial. No… I can't. I cannot let anyone else walk into this cursed life of mine.

And yet, his gaze lingered. He couldn't stop himself from watching her, and she… was watching him too, like a sly predator reading her prey's heartbeat. The air between them grew heavy with unsaid things.

Suddenly, the girl walked up to him and whispered into his ear, her voice like silk over a blade.

"Hello… I'm Sohee.

Wanna come to bed with me?"

Shocked, Denial pushed her away instantly. But she only laughed—sweet, shameless, seductive. She hugged him from behind, letting her fingers glide slowly over his body—her touch dangerously deliberate, lingering at places it shouldn't. Her hand reached down between his thighs, and Denial gasped, his breath faltering.

Despite every warning screaming in his head, despite every vow he made to himself, he couldn't resist. The next thing he knew, he was taking her to a nearby hotel.

That night, Denial surrendered himself to her… fully.

The next morning, as he quietly tried to leave, he left a bundle of cash on the table. Just when he reached the door, Sohee's voice stopped him.

"Sir, you're quite a famous businessman… who wouldn't recognize you? I first saw you in a newspaper article."

Denial turned, startled.

"Can you… give me a job, sir?" she asked, her voice soft yet bold.

He paused for a moment before replying, "Come to my office next week. Give an interview. Here's my business card."

He placed the card in her hand and turned away again, trying to rush out before more emotions could catch up.

But once more, her voice halted him.

"Thank you, sir… Actually, My family went bankrupt overnight. My father owned a well-known company—it's gone now. He's hospitalized from the shock. To pay for his treatment… I had no choice but to become a call girl."

Denial's chest tightened. His feet refused to move.

He looked back, eyes unreadable, and said in a low voice, "If I offer you a real job… a proper one, with good pay… will you stop doing this?"

Sohee didn't hesitate.

"Yes, sir. I only entered this world to save my family. That's all."

Denial nodded slowly, not trusting himself to say more.

He left… but her image didn't.

Even back at his office, he couldn't stop thinking about her. Sohee. Her voice, her sadness, her body, her story… everything about her haunted his mind.

And unknowingly, Denial—a man who had buried all emotions long ago—had already taken his first step into a storm that would change everything.
