The giant snake lunged at Arthur. Thanatos dove into the upper neck of the snake, knocking it off course. Arthur pulled himself together and dashed forward. He lodged the axe into the snake and dragged it through the snakes flesh. The snake hissed again and lunged for the second time. Arthur tried to take his axe out, but it got stuck in there. He pulled and pulled. The snakes head only inches away from biting. His left hand pulled at the axe while he summoned the sword of the broken oath with his right and lodged it into the snakes jaw, stopping it momentarily as he ripped the axe out.
Thanatos once again dove into the snakes head. Arthur dashed to the side and got on the back of the snake as it tried to lunge at him. The snake quickly flung Arthur off. Arthur grunted as he landed on the jade platform. Gritting his teeth as he stood up.
'It's tougher than I thought…'
"Thanatos! Keep it distracted! I need to think!"
The shadow wolf nodded and lunged at the snake. Arthur sat there thinking.
'Sure I pierced its scales. But it doesn't really seem to care all that much. It'd probably be better if I can rip its head off. But I can't pierce that deep into its flesh. How strong is this damn thing anyways?'
Arthur stood up and dismissed the axe. He put both hands on the sword of the broken oath and burst forward. He leaped and swung his sword at the snake's neck. Though it seemed to notice. And swung its body at Arthur before he could make contact. Arthur was hit by the heavy tail and once again was on the ground. This time. Pinned by an extremely heavy tail. Thanatos was keeping the head of the snake occupied.
'This wouldn't be too difficult if that damn seal wasn't there.'
Arthur laid there, he felt like he was at his wits end. The snake's tail was way too heavy, and he was starting to suffocate under its weight. He let his mind slip away. For the first time in years. That mechanical voice spoke into his head.
[Your mind is slipping away. Skill 'Berserk' activated.]
Arthur was once again left on the sidelines of his own body. Drifting into the endless depths of his own consciousness. As his sword aura started to thicken around his body. It turned a deep shade of red. He threw the snake's tail off of him and stood up. He yawned a bit. And then let out a toothy grin and laughed.
His body picked up the sword of the broken oath and swung the obsidian greatsword into the snake's tail. The thick aura sliced through the snake's tail. He let out a chuckle while tearing through the lower body of the snake. It let out a hiss mixed with a yelp as Thanatos kept it occupied. Its attention diverted back to Arthur. Its tail had regenerated in only an instant. It swung its newly grown tail at Arthur once again. Arthur put his hand on the tail. Stopping it with barely any trouble. And started pumping the snakes body with his aura.
"Erupt."
Red energy started to create cracks through the snakes body. Before its lower body imploded with an overload of red energy. Arthur looked towards Thanatos and held out the obsidian greatsword. Thanatos could tell that something was deeply wrong with him. But decided to put it off for now.
"Thanatos. Enhance. Now."
The shadow wolf sighed before turning incorporeal and wrapping itself around the obsidian greatsword. Empowering it with strength. By then, the snake had already regenerated.
"This will be fun…"
