Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1

"How did I get here?" Faint echoes in the background. Yuta... Yuta!!

"Oh... am I dying?"

I've lived a life of betraying and being betrayed. No attachment to anyone without a hidden agenda.

God, if I get another chance to survive this... let me live a peaceful life...

I am Yuta Kurohane, age 17. I live with my adorable parents and a crackhead of a sibling. I won't say I've lived fairly, but I'm okay with it—except for the daily nagging from my parents telling me to make friends.

"Yuta, why don't you try to make friends?" said Mum.

"I also agree with her, son," said Dad.

I won't say I'm against making friends, but at least try to understand me—I just can't make any right now, is what I thought. Saying it out loud would mean certain death.

Going to school has been a drag for me because I get to see proactive teens like me who have no idea what the world will be like after graduation. My class, 2-A, is one of those classes. I have no interest in being friends with them, but I know for sure that only the "normies" become the real leaders. I call them normies because their personalities scream wild. Especially our class reps—Aoyuki Rika and Takamine Aruto.

I just hoped I could live through my second year of high school in peace, but fate had other plans.

"Everyone, why are we glowing? This is weird... hey, narrator, what's happening? I can't be erased yet! AHHHHHH!"

Seems I'm still being favored as the narrator, is what crossed my mind.

By the way, where am I?

That question puzzled everyone else too, until a voice appeared:

**"Greetings, mere mortals. I am Amagami Rena, the god who has summoned you to Arthemya.

As you can see, this is a world of peace, magic, monsters, and heroes. You all have been summoned to act as the heroes who will bring an end to the hundred-year war between humans and demons.

I have imbued you all with magic and a status window showing how powerful you are. I will now conduct a test to determine which class you all belong to. Please step forward."**

After many tests, five people were found to belong to the legendary Heroes class: Rika, Takamine, Muichiro, Shira, and Lancaster. The rest of the class got sorted into other ranks and classes.

But as luck would have it, when it came to my turn, I got... ??? class.

How unlucky can I be? First, I get thrown into this world without warning. Then I see an angel for the first time making me puzzle if I was dead only to find out I am in another world , and now I'm stuck with a ??? class.

Everyone was stunned. And as always, I was at the center of attention.

Rena walked up to me and said the one word I never expected to hear from an angel:

"An anomaly in my plans."

This puzzled not just me but also the rest of the class.

Rika asked what she meant. Rena explained that those who cannot attain a class are deemed Sutego's. No one quite understood what that meant, but apparently, in the god's language, it stood for "forsaken children."

I was just as shocked as my classmates. Rena said I had to leave. I—and a few others—protested, saying I wasn't a burden.

That made everyone stop to think. But then the unexpected happened.

"Yeah! Yuta is a burden. He always drags the whole class down!"

Suddenly, they all agreed with the angel. I should be discarded.

Ha... I should've known. I'm useless. Cast aside wherever I go. I was never part of this class—just an extra meant to be discarded later. Utter trash.

"Yuta Kurohane," Rena called.

I got up and answered.

"I cannot take you back to your world," she said, "but I can take you somewhere else."

I asked where—and I wish I hadn't.

"The Abyss."

Surprised, I asked what I was supposed to do there.

"Survive."

I asked if there were any Rizakiyos I could live with. She simply said:

"They're all dead."

Astonished, I asked, "What does this mean?!"

She replied, "Either survive or die."

I turned to look at my classmates. What I saw next were their indifferent eyes, telling me:

"You deserved it."

"Go to hell, bastard."

"Why were you even born?"

But in the midst of it all, I saw a single teardrop—from someone I had always disliked. Rika.

That tear was pleading for them not to send me away.

But no choice could be made.

As I was about to be transported, I had only one goal in mind: Survive by any means necessary—even if it meant killing those around me.

The lingering emotions surrounding me were gone. The shackles binding me were broken.

My last words before disappearing were:

"I WILL SURVIVE. AND IF ANYONE DARES TRY TO KILL ME, THEY WILL DIE BY MY HAND."

This is my story.

I am not afraid to kill.

I will not be betrayed.

This path laid before me is a new beginning—

one that I know will be a terrible one.
