In the world of Arcadia there existed four layers of existence. The divine realms, being the heavenly realm and the demonic realm, and then the parallel realms, being the mortal realm and the abyssal realm. While the heavenly and demonic realm existed on both the top and bottom of the layers, the mortal realm and the abyss were perfectly parallel, there is one entrance to the abyss. One at the peak of the abyssal mountains, where the peak of the mountain range connected into the other realm. And that's where Arthur planned on going. Once night came around he set up camp. He honestly didn't know how to set up camp at all. All he did was lay on the ground, and sleep. While he slept he continued to develop his understanding of draconic runes.
He managed to conjure the ball of pure mana once again. And it took him multiple tries before he was able to condense the ball into a fine string. He used the string and used it to draw the draconic rune of time. Although it simply existed there. As a thin letter in the draconic alphabet. Nothing happened.
'...I don't know exactly what I expected...but I thought at least something would happen. It seems like a stand-alone rune by itself won't do much.'
He searched the page again and learned the rune for 'pause' in the draconic language. He inscribed pause in the air before the rune for time. And felt every single thing around him stop. But also felt his mindspace start to crumble. To avoid becoming brain dead. He destroyed the runes.
[You have gained an enhanced understanding of the world. Rebooting system...]
'...what? What the hell is happening?'
The system simply vanished from sight. With the ominous message of a reboot. He wasn't sure how exactly the system could change at all. His mindspace was starting to break down from the use of pausing time. And he quickly woke himself up. Surrounded by the endless expanse of night. The only light being the warm embrace of the stars above. His thoughts ran back to the parting words the man had given him...
'Draw a star...maybe it means...draw the draconic rune for star? No...that wouldn't make much sense...why would a human invent a style using the draconic language?'
He took out the moonlight blade and drew the shape out of the star with his sword. Obviously, nothing happened. He sighed before leaning back down onto the grassy plain.
'This style's practically useless to me unless I can find a way to even start it. What a waste. Plus, my legs are still recovering from the use of light speed slash, even with the dragon body, I probably won't be able to use it again for a while.'
Arthur took out his notebook and inscribed the runes for pause and time just in case he would need to practice later. He wasn't sure how exactly the mysterious language functioned. But it seemed like certain letters contained what the dragons called 'authorities', each phrase that manifested a certain spell used the base authority, and a command. Time was the authority, and pause was the command. While time could be used with pause, it could also be used with quicken, or slow down, or shatter. Time was all too advanced for him to properly use. It was certainly useful to learn.
