Chapter 16 - — Calm

Arthur rubbed the back of his head as he stood in the grass. The grey and dull grass swayed with the wind, given a life it didn't appear to have. The mountain he had fallen from was still standing ways away from him. The fracture in the sky had vanished.

'…you can't be serious…how the hell am I supposed to get back?!'

As far as he was aware. Arthur had absolutely no way to get back to the mortal realm. Which meant he was completely stuck there. Most likely for forever. He looked around at his surroundings.

'This feels…oddly familiar. Yeah…I've really only been here for a week and a half. It feels like I've been here my entire life. It's probably for the better I forget about life back then anyways. It's not like I meant anything to anyone. At least I can do something here.'

Behind him were a series of cliffs and floating islands tied to them by a series of wooden bridges. There was nothing really special there. That he could observe, except for a few structures. It was a bit eerie actually. He had remembered Arcadia to be a place crawling with monsters. Yet he had only encountered a few. In fact, his journey was incredibly underwhelming. Although, he wasn't sure if it that was a good or bad thing. He decided to stay away from the floating islands and cross the plains to what he saw to be a nearby city. It looked grey and desolate, but literally everything in the abyss was, there was light yet, there wasn't. He unsheathed the moonlight blade, it still had the usual blue glow.

'Hm…is it because it doesn't originate from the abyss?'

He was still a bit confused about the shadow colossus and how it had simply vanished. Though he had been asleep for three days. He figured he would at least see it looming, in fact he couldn't see most of the abyss past the general area of where he was. It was all covered in a thick layer of mist. He could only have seen it from above, like when he was falling. After checking his status window. He noticed something new. A new title.

[Title name: Herald Description: The gentle woman cradled her newborn son in her names, she spoke softly to him and she said 'dear child…you will one day inherit the world…and all of its wonders, and all of its blessing, and all of its curses as well…I ask you to be strong, child…' on that day, all of the gods were focused on one being.]

'…that certainly isn't ominous at all. What exactly are these heralds? I already heard about the herald of the stars from the moonlight blade, and I'm pretty sure he's dead, since the moonlight sword doesn't have any people to carry it on, besides me. But this doesn't describe a herald of a certain thing, just a herald in general. What exactly am I supposed to be the herald of…?'

He was a bit confused. How could that child have been so important that all of the gods witnessed their birth? He shrugged it off and walked to the north. Towards the direction of the small city.
