I'm sitting across from Dr. Nigel's desk, right after he's finished running every test he could think of on me.
Nigel's been my doctor since I was a kid. He's the only one who's ever managed my suppressant doses, and honestly, the only person who's ever kept my secret, that I'm a male omega, safe from everyone else. He knows exactly what my life's like here, how I've dealt with my heat cycles all this time, and he never misses a chance to nag me whenever I keep doing the same thing with people who aren't even my mate. Seriously, Nigel's always on my case, pushing me to hurry up and find my mate so I can finally break these habits during heat, live a 'normal' life, and quit the high-dose suppressants I've been taking for years.
He hands me a sheet with my health stats and a black-and-white ultrasound photo. In the picture, there's this tiny white dot, just a few centimeters wide, pulsing, alive and kicking.
