The second the car stopped in the basement, Kyle killed the engine without saying a word. His jaw was clenched, his breathing heavy, and before I could ask what was going on, his hand clamped around my wrist.
"W—what are you—"
He didn't answer. His grip was rough, yanking me so hard I nearly stumbled as we stormed through the cold hallway toward the elevator. I tried to pull free, but his hold didn't budge. The chill of the metal elevator wall bit into my skin as my back slammed against it.
Seventh floor. The ding of the elevator sounded like a damn death knell. I had no idea what Kyle was thinking, but whatever it was, it felt dangerous. The less I knew, the worse this was gonna get.
"No. Kyle, wait—I can explain, just wait—" My voice didn't reach him. He kept dragging me along like I was nothing.
