Matthew's P.O.V
I let out a long breath, eyes locked on the steering wheel even as the bus carrying Theo disappeared from the station. He'd already vanished beyond the turnstile, headed for the platform to catch a train, probably back home.
A flicker of regret gnawed at me. I shouldn't have dropped him off on the street. I should've taken him home. What was I thinking, dragging him somewhere else?
Stupid move. Now it's not just that I didn't get to talk to him longer... I made things worse. Now he probably hates me.
Well, of course he does. Who wouldn't hate the guy who shows up out of nowhere claiming he's carrying your baby, especially when you're certain you never even had sex?
But I trust my instincts. I know he's pregnant.
There's a kind of energy pulsing through his body, and just touching him, I feel it. That energy is mine. Not someone else's. Mine.
Still, there's nothing I can do right now but tell him. I can't get closer than this. He doesn't even know who I am.
