Synopsis
You know what’s funny? These days, every so-called villain story is the same. Some guy gets betrayed, turns cold, starts playing 5D chess with people’s lives, acts heartless—but deep down, he’s always the victim. Always wearing that mask of pain to justify why he’s screwing others over. It’s become a trend. If he’s not manipulating the heroines, crushing the hero under his boots, and pretending like he’s saving the world by destroying it, people say he’s not a real villain—just another edgy antihero. But me? I don’t see villains like that. To me, a villain is just… a human. A man who’s kind when he chooses to be, cruel when he has to be. He’s not trying to prove anything to the world—he just refuses to be someone else’s puppet. And yeah, sometimes that means breaking rules, breaking trust, even breaking people. This story? It’s not about redemption or pity. It’s about a man the world calls a villain, but who’s just doing what he must to survive in a world that was never fair to begin with. He plays fate like a rigged game. The heroines? Destined for someone else? He rewrites that. Make them love him... because he can. The ‘son of heaven’? He crushes him, not for glory—but to show the heavens he’s not below them. Yeah, he lies. Makes promises he never plans to keep. He takes what he wants, even if it means tearing down everything in his way—including love. But if you look a little closer… beneath all that chaos and manipulation… there’s a heart. Not soft. Not perfect. But real. This isn’t the story of a man trying to be a villain. This is the story of a man who stopped pretending to be one. In this story, the heroines will feel. Really feel. Not just cry on cue or exist to fall in love—they’ll ache, rage, doubt, hope. And the villain? He’ll feel too. But not in the way that makes him soft or fragile. No, his emotions make him terrifying. He doesn’t run from what he feels—he owns it. Wields it. Turns it into fuel. So when he falls for someone, it’s not a weakness—it’s a warning. Because once he decides he wants her, he’ll make sure she falls too. Not by luck. Not by fate. By design. That’s the difference. He doesn’t fall in love hoping to be loved back. He falls in love, and then bends her world until it becomes inevitable. And no, he won’t save her out of pity. He’ll destroy anyone who touches what’s his—but never out of mercy. His pity is saved for people who were too shallow to understand him in the first place. See, this villain isn’t the typical archetype. He’s not cold for the sake of being cold. He’s not pretending to be empty inside. He feels more than anyone else—more than the heroines, more than the so-called heroes. That’s what makes him dangerous. He can love deeper. Hurt harder. Manipulate smarter. And that’s why he has to be just a little more ruthless than them all. Because in a world that demands you hide your heart to survive—he doesn’t hide it. He sharpens it. Chapter 1 - Prologue

"DON'T TOUCH ME!"

smack

A hoarse, breathless voice laced with feminine rage, followed by a slap on his hand, was enough for Lecan's hands to lurch back, leaving a red mark but not changing the amused look on his face as he looked towards the broken woman, breathing heavily, her eyes teary, swollen, perky red lips trembling with raw fury.

"Agatha... what are—" He yet again stretched his hand to soothe the emotional rage within Agatha, trying to calm her down, but she just stepped back, using her wrist to clear away the tears falling like waterfalls for this cruel man who did not understand a thing before taking away the last bit of hope from her.

"Shut up! I hate you! Leave me alone!" Her voice was one of rage fueled within the roar as her reddened gaze shot towards the man who was clearly unfazed by all of it.

It was as if he didn't understand the pain of a woman who had lost her unborn child.

"Agatha, control yourself; you can't act like this," Lecan softened his gaze, his body blurring suddenly—something not noticed by human eyes—but in just a moment, he vanished and wrapped his hand around Agatha before she could even blink, now pressed between her and his firm chest, trembling against the rough fabric of his suit.

In her grief, she didn't even notice his speed, just the warmth, scent, and pressure of his firm, muscular chest, unlike the chubby body she remembered.

'!'

"N-no! Behand me, you cruel man!" she protested, using force to separate herself, but with a frail body and delicate feminine physique against that strongly built man, she was helpless, especially after stage 4 metastatic cancer, corroding her body from within.

She hated this man for taking away her child, who could have been the last thing she might have left for him... something that might keep reminding him about her when she was long gone.

But he killed her child... no, their child.

"Shh, you could have died, woman." Lecan was calm, but his hand possessively around her seemed to tell another story; the fingers clawing at the fabric of the patient uniform draped over her silken and delicate physique were already enough to tell how his priority was her rather than the unborn soul.

"Then you should have just let me...! You should have... sob... hiccup... why our child..." Agatha broke down after so much strength she kept to herself, every bit of strength a woman who had fought cancer all these years finally cried in his arms, not breaking due to the disease but from hatred for this man who didn't have anything or anyone belonging to her.

She would be long gone, and he would just move on... especially now that he had changed.

He had become someone any woman would fall for, far more attractive and approachable than what he was a few months ago.

It was a cruel fate where she loved him all these years only for her to die like this while he... he didn't love her back ever.

How can a man be this cruel?

Killing his own unborn child to save his wife?

She hated him.

Hated him for making her feel this helpless.

"Because..." Lecan sighed, returning to the present while clasping her face, his eyes glaring with composure and firmness in his voice as he declared, "...I want you to live, live when I'm not dying any time soon, woman."

"...y-you hateful man—!" Agatha tried to protest even though her lips had been pouted like a fish under his finger, but she just met his firm gaze, which melted her body from within in a way that she hated.

But before completing her sentence, she was lifted off the floor in a princess carry.

"Kyaaa—!—wh-what!?" She didn't even have the time to react before her vision changed, and the next moment she found herself in his arms at the highest top of the hospital, with her head spinning as she felt all of this was some kind of illusion, standing atop the tower.

"Shut up, Agatha, and just tell me... will you be my mate?" he asked, again, in a way that was not an accident like last time; he was going to take full responsibility for everything.

Even the mistakes of his past and the opportunities in the form of women he might encounter in the future.

'Now this is better,' Lecan felt satisfaction wash over his face, turning towards Agatha trembling while looking down, instinctively grabbing his collar out of fear before hugging tightly, her frail body trembling.

"H-husband... W-wait, y-you will fall." Her teary eyes widened, splattering tears around as she turned towards the man she loved but hated for being so merciless, anxiety gripping her fragile heart seeing the height of the building they were on, her heart skipping beats as if about to collapse due to fear of something happening to him.

"Tell me, Agatha, will you be my mate?" Lecan inquired, his eyes suddenly glowing red; this glint was instantaneous.

"Yes...?" Her lips parted, and a reply came instantly, but what accompanied it was a chill she couldn't understand until the moment she felt his hand throwing her.

Her whole mind seemed to freeze—blank—time slowed. The wind howled louder than her breath, louder than the scream trapped in her throat.

Her arms reached out instinctively. The last thing she saw was his fading silhouette, standing still and uncaring. His red eyes watching as if admiring the fall of a petal.

Her eyes widened—lips parted, not a scream but a name struggling to escape. Hair fluttered like torn threads in the air—gown ballooning up, body weightless as when the reflection of her pupil, the lights of the several floors of the building started to pass, as she fell at an enormous pace, being pulled by gravity.

She remembered the warmth of his chest. His arms. His words.

'Ah...' Just a confusion as her lips quivered as her vision spun with sky and ground merging into a blur—

And then... just before the crash of truth,

She whispered—broken, betrayed—

"H... husband?"
