Chapter 10 - Chapter 9- Agatha's Mistake

"Y-you—" Velmira instantly recognized the young man at the door even though there was a memory of blurred image, but she was completely sure that those red eyes and hair belonged to the same man who had held her last night.

But she wasn't completely certain, prompting her to clench her fist and suppress her emotions to avoid misjudging someone else for the one who saved her. She asked, in a voice that contrasted with her internal turmoil, "Are you the one who saved me last night?"

"You can even compare my palm size." Lecan just nodded while speaking through the bread in his mouth, finally placing the tray on the bed while eating. He was wearing an apron and loose pants tied with a rope instead of a belt due to losing most of his weight, having lived alone away from the main estate of the Blood Moon family.

He had become good enough at cooking, though he didn't always prefer it, especially since he spent most of his time working out.

Whenever he drank blood, which was necessary for him to at least sustain himself, that blood was cleanly turned into fat instead of being utilized by his digestive system to give him strength, making it a hassle to remove that fat through working out as he needed to constantly build his muscles while a layer of fat always built up whenever he drank blood.

So technically, when a vampire drinks blood, that blood is instantly turned into energy by their internal organs to vitalize the power they are manifesting in the absence of their own blood, which does not possess hemoglobin to carry out metabolism. But in his case, that blood was turning into fat which, after he worked out, was converted into low-grade ATP, enforcing his body in a way that was similar to a human.

So he rarely cooked, especially in the morning when it was always the lady at the front door who brought him food.

"What?" Velmira felt confused by what he meant by comparing palm sizes. She did not pay attention to it before looking at the food, clearly suspicious that there might be some sedative in it.

However, observing the situation where this young man was clearly emitting the smell of a vampire, she felt that maybe, if he really wanted to hurt her, he would have done it while she was asleep.

So there was no reason for him to mix something in the food. Yet she was on edge, just observing him and keeping her gaze fixed on his face.

"Should I leave?" Lecan inquired, understanding the hesitations she might be showing, especially due to the strained relationships between werewolves and the vampire race.

Given her status as someone from the Starlight family, it was likely she was very strong and raised in that environment, further enforcing her cautiousness.

"Pardon me, but how did I turn back into my human form?" Velmira clearly did not pay attention to his words and inquired, keeping her gaze fixed on him but suspicious.

According to her recollection of the last night, she had been in a carriage and was on her way to a meeting with one of the elders.

But during the journey, a sudden awakening with the presence of the full moon and a strange smell of vampires in the forest made her lose control, and she lunged in that direction, losing consciousness only to open her eyes in the arms of this man.

"I did," Lecan replied, not wanting to confuse her about this matter, especially after the trust he had placed in her. He clearly noticed her eyes widening and her lips parting to speak, but before her words could form, the door of the apartment began to bang.

Bam! Bam!

"LECAN! ARE YOU ALRIGHT? OPEN THE DOOR!"

'!'

Suddenly, the sound at the door caused Lecan to turn his eyes in that direction, and in that moment, his mind recognized the voice that belonged to Agatha, one of the few people who were very close to him.

He also realized the reason she was screaming; since the morning he had cleared off the blood throughout the room in his apartment, but he had forgotten that there was more in the corridor too.

'Shit,' he thought as he lunged, dashing swiftly to the door, where Velmira was also standing. He finally opened the apartment door.

"N-no, God, I—

"Hey, what's up, Lady?" Lecan swiftly opened the door while hearing that mumble before observing the woman in front of him.

She stood there with teary eyes, horror etched on her face, and with a tremble he saw her hand hovering in the air as she banged on the door.

He forced a smile to greet her, trying to avoid explaining things too much.

"Huh?! LECAN! Are you alright!?" Agatha, feeling her heart crash at the sight of the man at the door, widened her eyes before lunging at him, grasping his face and ruffling his hair erratically.

"W-wait—" Lecan felt his cheek moving with the flow of her palm, stretching his eyes closed, clearly feeling the softness as her delicate fingers brushed his hair with clear concern.

She leaned forward to check for any injuries on his head before leaning back.

"Phuuuu, thank god—!?—w-wait," Agatha said, placing one hand on her chest as she breathed in relief. Slowly opening her eyes to look at the man, she suddenly felt her mind snap as she realized her mistake and instantly returned to give a ninety-degree bow.

"I am sorry, I took you for someone else!" Indeed, she had missed this man who had similar facial features to him without realizing that he wore only an apron, accentuating the curves of his rib muscles, biceps, shoulders, and the firmness of his body.

This realization snapped her mind back to the fact that she had just reacted in that way with an unknown man.

"I REALLY APOLOGIZE, SIR!" She did not even dare to raise her head as her face instantly flushed with embarrassment for reacting that way, not realizing that he was completely different from the fluffy man, causing her to curse herself, 'Stupid, stupid, you stupid moron!'
