Chapter 8 - 7. Elder Brother

"It's break time, you can check this later." Her new friend, Eliza spoke, and he hesitated, scared enough to get scolded.

"Don't worry, he even takes a break lol" she laughed at her scared face, and she smiled at her before going towards the cafeteria to eat. She talked with a few more people and soon created a friendly environment there. Her colleagues were quite good, except for one, and that was Emma. She keeps on taunting Jennifer as if she's the only one who works in this whole building.

Break time was almost over and Jennifer was returning after washing her hands when she mindlessly bumped into someone. "Oh! I am so sorry." She looked up but widened her eyes as a very handsome man stood tall in front of her. "It's alright, miss." His cheeks squished a bit as he smiled at her.

"I am really sorry. I didn't see you." Jennifer politely bowed to him. "Well, I don't think I am that short to not be visible. Am I?" He playfully raised his brows, and she stood frozen for a bit before nervously letting out a chuckle. "No, no you are not. I am sorry." He laughed with her too, letting her ease a little. "It's alright. Not a big deal."

"You might be an employee here. Aren't you? I am sorry, but I am new here so I don't know much." Jennifer asked, blinking at him. "Oh you are new here? What's your name?" He walked along with her towards the office from the cafeteria. "I am Jennifer Wilson. Mr. Williams' new secretary." She smiled as the two of them now entered the elevator to go upstairs, as the cafeteria was downstairs.

"Oh I see."

"Did you eat?" Jennifer asked immediately. She was just being polite and humble because she still didn't know how much to talk and not in a professional place. "Uh not yet. But I will eat now." The guy flashed a smile at her, but she quivered her brows as if worried about something. "I am scared that you can't." She shook her head.

"What? Why though?" He asked, looking at her. "Look at the time. Break time is already over. Sir won't allow you to eat now." The guy simply chuckled, making her confused.

"So what? A person should eat when he is hungry." The guy said simply, as if he was somehow related to Tan.

"But our boss won't understand it. He is too serious about work," Jennifer scoffed.

"Oh! I see. You already know a lot about the boss being his secretary for just one day." The guy crossed his arms, narrowing his eyes. "Of course I would know. He made me work so much in just 3 hours and I still have 3 hours more to go. Do you realize how much he will make me work more? He gave me 10 files." She made a sad face.

"Now that's really sad." The guy said, looking down. "Isn't it?" Jennifer hopefully looked at him and he nodded his head. "You won't believe it, but he lectured me because I was 10 minutes late. 10 minutes only." She showed him both of palms, opening and closing her fingers.

"Dude, people can't even prepare a dish in 10 minutes because it's a short period of time." She said, shrugging her shoulders and the guy bit his lips, trying hard not to laugh at her face because she seemed very funny to him. "So you didn't like the boss." He instigated her more, but she didn't realize it.

"No. Not at all. He only knows to order." Jennifer twisted her lips. "But that's what a boss does. Doesn't he?" She was tongue-tied because of his question, that was quite true and slightly nodded. The elevator doors now opened and both of them walked out of it. "Anyway, it was nice talking to you. I feel so light." She chuckled and he gave her a small smile. "I hope you get to eat." This time he too laughed with her.

"What's your name by the way?" Jennifer asked him, and before he could reply to her, she heard your boss' familiar deep voice. "Brother!" Turning her head towards his direction, she looked back at the man standing in front of her, confused. "Why is he calling you brother?" She was perplexed and looked back at Tan only to widen her eyes the next second.

"Hi, nice to meet you, I am Aiden Williams, Tan's elder brother." The guy amusingly smiled at Jennifer and later Tan joined the duo. "Why did you take so long to come?" He asked Aiden, who looked at Jennifer.

"Was just catching up with your new secretary." She stood there, frozen, trying to process everything, that happened a few minutes ago, her every talk was moving like a movie in front of her eyes, just like it does for '10 minutes' before a person's eyes, when they are going to die. But those memories are beautiful, but the memories Jennifer is getting are too bitter to be tasted.

She did not just backbite about her boss in front of his elder brother.

"Miss Jennifer, did you see a ghost? Why are you standing like that?" Tan directed towards her and she came out of her trance. "Sorry sir." She whispered and looked at Aiden with pleading eyes as if requesting him to not say anything to him. "I am sorry. Really sorry." She bowed to Aiden before hastily leaving from there.

"Why did she apologize to you?" Tan raised his brows in confusion. "Uh! I don't know. Maybe she is very humble." Aiden slickly shrugged his shoulders. "Huh? Humble my foot. You didn't see her scream at me the other day." Tan rolled his eyes. "Scream at you? Seriously?" Aiden's eyes went wide hearing him.

"Long story." Tan walked towards his cabin with Aiden.

"And I am here till we eat together." He winked at his brother, ready to hear the latest gossip.
