After a hectic day at work, Tan entered his mansion. He greeted his father who was sitting on the sofa in the living room, but halted from going upstairs, towards his room as his father called for him. "Yes dad." He stood before him, but he tapped the seat beside him.
"Robert called me today. I hope you already know him." Tan simply nodded his head, already knowing where this conversation was leading to. "He has a daughter. Jennifer Wilson. She was supposed to give an interview at our office and that's why her father called me. You know he is my best friend and-" Tan interrupted the conversation. "I know dad. And I know he might have called you to make sure that she is offered the job and is treated well and all." Tan spoke and looked away uninterested.
He wasn't the type of person to give someone a job because of merit. Also, he had already seen her qualifications and her will to be a fashion designer. He just offered her-not offered, actually made her sign the contract to be his secretary, so that he could prepare her for all the hectic days coming ahead in her life after she will become a fashion designer for his company.
"No. He told me not to give her the privilege of being his daughter and treat her like a normal employee, just like he doesn't get the privilege of being my best friend. Why do you judge people so easily?" Mr. Williams explained and later questioned Tan and his mouth formed an 'O' shape but later composed himself.
"Don't worry dad. I will treat her the way she should be treated. But, doesn't she know about you being her dad's friend?" Tan asks.
"No. Or else she would have applied somewhere else. She wants to do something solely on her own." He laughed a little and Tan simply nodded again.
Time skip : Jennifer's second day at work
Jennifer straightened her skirt, as she stepped out of the taxi, followed by Mia. Again, both of them were twins. Mia was wearing a white full-sleeved blouse shirt tucked into a light pink pencil skirt and Jennifer was wearing a white full-sleeved blouse shirt tucked into a lilac pencil skirt.
Mia and Jennifer went inside the building and saw Lina smiling at them. Before Jennifer could do anything, Mia shouted, waving her right-hand high in the air, "Hey there, Lina."
Jennifer quickly held Mia's hand and whispered in her ear, "Are you mad or what?"
"What? I just said hi."
"Not said, you shouted, Mia, just look around you."
Mia looked and saw everyone looking at her weirdly, like she was some sort of alien. Before Mia could say something, Jennifer dragged her towards Lina and asked her, "Hey, could you please tell me if Mr. Williams arrived yet?"
"Actually, he's just behind you." Lina said and said, "Good morning, sir."
Tan, without replying to her, looked at Jennifer and said, "Did you have any work for me?"
"N-No, sir. I was just asking." Jennifer said, stuttering.
"By the way, you are 10 minutes late. Follow me." Tan said and went straight towards the lift, followed by Jennifer, who turned around and looked at Mia and Lina. They both showed her a thumbs up.
"I am sorry sir." Jennifer entered the lift and said under her breath, looking down, still thinking how he was keen about every minute. "I hope you will try to be on time from now on. Because it's your first day officially, so I am letting it go." She forced a sweet smile at him. "I am so grateful to you sir." And with that her 'official' first day in his office started.
Jennifer never knew that working could be so stressful. Though she liked the thought that she had a job now, being his secretary was quite tiring because all he did was order her sometimes. For a moment she thought that he was taking his revenge on her for misbehaving with him that day, but later on she got to know from his colleagues that he was like this with everyone.
Jennifer made a friend there whose cubicle was besides her, and she shared little information about the office with her. She got to know that Tan Williams wasn't the only boss of the Williams Fashionart but Aiden Williams , his elder brother was too. He rarely comes to the Paris branch because he handles the other branches.
"It's break time, you can check this later." Her new friend, Eliza spoke and you hesitated, scared enough to get scolded.
"Don't worry, even he takes a break lol" she laughed at her scared face and she smiled at her before going towards the cafeteria to eat.
She talked with a few more people and soon created a friendly environment there. Her colleagues were quite good, except for one and that's Emma, she keeps on taunting Jennifer as if she's the only one who works in this whole building.
Break time was almost over and Jennifer were returning back after washing her hands when she mindlessly bumped into someone. "Oh! I am so sorry." She looked up but widen her eyes as a very handsome man stood tall in front of her. "It's alright, miss." His cheeks squished a bit as he smiled at her.
"I am really sorry. I didn't see you." Jennifer politely bowed at him. "Well I don't think I am that short to not be visible. Am I?" He playfully raised his brows and she stood frozen for a bit before nervously letting out a chuckle. "No no you are not. I am sorry." He laughed with her too, letting her ease a little. "It's alright. Not a big deal."
