Chapter 1 - the abyss

1,000 years ago, a great explosion occurred that changed the world, creating the Abyss, which caused major disasters. Children were born with hideously deformed faces and dark, black skin, along with the emergence of powerful new beings called Magon. Children whose bodies were adapted to the Abyss's power, called the Children of the Abyss, gained supernatural powers. Some remained unaffected by the Abyss's powers. The climate and natural landscapes changed, becoming black, with some areas remaining unaffected by the Abyss. The Children of the Abyss began fighting Magon, scattered across the Earth. Some tried to enter the Abyss to explore it. Most of those who entered the Abyss either met their fate or their bodies were consumed by the dark forces, while others were unaffected by them.

In a remote location, inside a small camp near the edge of the Abyss.

Cairo: Dravik, are you ready? Tomorrow we'll descend into the Abyss.

Dravic: Of course, I'm ready. We've been planning for six months. Is the barrier ready?

Cairo: Yes, I've blocked it. Most Mages can't pass through it.

Dravik: All defenses are ready, so who will guard it?

Cairo: Since I built the barrier, you'll guard it.

Dravik: What! This isn't fair.

Cairo: I don't care, I'm going to sleep.

Dravik: Ah, okay, good night.

While Cairo was asleep and Dravik was guarding a camp, he felt a dark aura approaching the camp.

Dravik felt a strong presence and heard footsteps approaching. Dravik picked up the lantern and brought it closer to the source of the footsteps. It was almost human-like, with large hands and long, sharp claws, emitting a growl like a hungry wolf. It stared at Dravik with those red eyes, ready to attack at any moment. The Magon leaped into the sky at high speed and attacked Dravik with a large hand.

Dravik pulled out his sword and blocked the blow.

Dravik: Oof, that was close. If it weren't for my reaction, I'd be dead by now.

The Magon stepped back as Dravik looked at him. The Magon disappeared from his sight.

Dravik:!!!!!

He quickly turned around until a powerful blow landed on him, sending him flying far away.

Dravik: "Aaaah, I didn't expect you to be this strong."

Dravik got up from the ground and cut his hand. Blood began to flow from his hands and merge with his sword.

Dravik disappeared from the Magon's sight. The Magon raised his head, looking at Dravik in the sky. With extreme speed, he cut off his head without him even noticing.

Dravik: "The Blood Blade was enough to kill him."

Cairo: "What's all this fuss about, Dravik?"

Dravik: "Oh, you woke up. It was just a Magon I was fighting."

Cairo: "Don't you feel like it took you too long to kill? How could you face the Abyss when you couldn't kill an ordinary Magon?"

Cairo looked at Dravik with a disappointed look.

Dravik: "Blah, blah, how could you face the Abyss? And he wasn't an ordinary Magon, he was a high-level Magon."

Dravik mocked Cairo's formal manner of speaking. Cairo felt With provocation and anger

Cairo: I won't bear your responsibility if you die in the abyss!

Dravik: Blah blah, I'm going to sleep now. It's your turn to guard.

Cairo: At least clean up after the madman.

Dravik: ...

Cairo: He's already asleep, scum.

After morning came, Cairo and Dravik packed their bags to head to the Abyss.

Cairo: Did you bring everything?

Dravik: Yes.

Cairo raised his hand, which was covered in a black aura. Then, it spread out on the ground, and two armored horses emerged from it.

Cairo: Let's go.

Dravik: Shadow Technique is awesome. You can recreate any creature you kill and absorb its shadow.

Cairo: What's so great about it if I can't use it on Magon?

Dravik: I envy you for it.

Dravik and Cairo chatted the entire way until they reached their destination, the Abyss Castle. It was a large, black castle surrounded by massive walls that even prevented birds from passing through due to their height.

After they approached the castle gate, the castle guard approached them. He looked affected by Miasma. His back was arched, he had one eye, his skin was dark gray, and his voice was deep. Very

(Miasma: "It is the force that causes distortions in the world and in humans, and that allows people to gain supernatural powers")

Castle Guardian: So what brought you here?

Cairo: We want to explore the Abyss.

Castle Guardian: It seems you came to die. Coming to the Abyss would be suicide.

Dravik: Just so you know, we're much stronger than anyone I've met.

Castle Guardian: I can't let you enter the Abyss without ensuring you can withstand the powerful miasma inside.

Dravik: Cairo, you told me that time that the deeper we descend, the stronger we become. So how can the miasma kill us?

Castle Guardian: Yes, because we use miasma to control our powers. The denser the miasma, the stronger we become. But there are some people who can't control the intensity of the powerful miasma and die.

Dravik: Oh, that's why we have to take the test.

Castle Guardian: Are you going to stay like this the whole time? Follow me quickly. I don't have all day.

After the friends followed the castle guardian, they reached the testing room.

Castle Guardian: All you have to do is touch it. This stone senses if an abyss will consume you.

Dravik approached the stone and placed his hand on it. It showed no reaction. However, in Cairo's case, when he placed his hand on it, the stone turned a deep black.

Dravik: Does this mean Miasma will kill Cairo?

Castle Guard: Hmm, I've never seen anything like this before. If Miasma is going to consume him, his hand should feel a burning sensation.

Cairo: Then can I enter the abyss?

Castle Guard: Your hand isn't damaged, so you can enter.

The castle guard opened the huge gate, and an unknown amount of air or steam came out. It was pitch black, evoking a sense of fear and anxiety.

Dravik: Thank you, Castle Guard.

Castle Guard: I'm doing my job. I don't need to thank you.

The gatekeeper's tone of voice was harsh.

Cairo and Dravik approached the edge of the cliff. Their faces showed signs of worry and fear. The gate behind them closed.

Dravik: The guard was rude in speaking to us. He really angered me.

Cairo: You can't blame him. Don't forget that he lives near the cliff. The miasma must have affected him.

Dravik: So who's going to jump first?

Cairo jumped without hearing what Dravik said.

Dravik: Well, it seems I'm the only one afraid of jumping

he takes a deep breath:It's time to cleanse the abyss!
