They suited each other. Dad and Eva.
They both had venomous words that could paralyse anyone. I couldn't even bring myself to call down after the outburst of anger. The smirk on Renee's face made my skin crawl, I felt ambushed. Everything was falling apart again. Couldn't the universe give me a break? Must I be tortured on every side?
"I am not a Shame." I seethed. "The same hospital you are assigning her to, I have worked there for years. Under you, for years. Now you conspire with the board to take my license and let her take my place?" I turned to dad now, his face was bent down to his plate, eating. It seemed my words were flying past him, and he wasn't reacting to any of it.
"If I am to assign you as the director, you can't work there. You don't have a license and besides, you have poor management skills. You could barely manage your home. Your husband."
