I watched my phone ring.
It was Scarlett. I knew she would call me, she must have been worried sick. I didn't know how Levi had come to get me, but it only made sense if one of them panicked when they realised I was gone. I didn't know the deal between them, but something told me I was being dragged into a web I wasn't ready for. Not now. Not at this stage when I was being dragged through the mud at every given time.
I recalled my conversation with him; I allowed it play in my mind, when the thought of what I was about to do then flashed.
"Why won't you just let me die?"
He grimaced, tilting his head in confusion. "Was that what you had in mind when you disappeared from the hospital?"
"If it was, I don't see how it's your business. All I have ever asked from you was to leave me alone."
