Chapter 17 - The Crash

The fear of someone watching me was greater than my body lying cold in a ditch somewhere. The ice creeping into my bones, made me shiver in fear. I wasn't used to this silence, the kind that breathed like it was going to take the noise of my breath pretty soon.

I had lost everything.

Now, the wealth my mom had left for me as a fail-safe was being handled by that bitch who had stolen her home. The only friend who has been with me from the beginning, through the thickness of sorrow that buried itself underneath my belly, I had managed to push her away too.

I sighed.

Those accusations were extreme and yet, I didn't stop. "Still your hands, still your heart. The storm cannot drown you." I muttered to myself as I buried my head in the warmth of my thighs, dragging my knees to my chest. Mom was kept under the whims of my father's protection. I worry about her even when she has lost her grip on reality. The fear ate through the darkness of my mind.
