It had to be the ultima's key. The delicate carvings on it gave it away. Complicated swirls and patterns rounded its design and at the foremost top, the figure of a wolf's head. For all its detail, the key was as tiny as a grasshopper, sitting in the middle of my palm. I covered it in a loose fist, scared it would break if I squeezed too hard.
Well, I now had the ultima's key in my grasp. Now I was left to wonder what the hell was in that secret compartment in Freur's closet. Why was the password Maultner's name?
"Aah, I know what you're thinking," Casper chirped in.
"You fancy yourself an omnipresent god now huh?" I hissed at him, careful not to make my voice too loud so Tristan would not hear.
"No. It's just what I'm thinking too. What the hell is hidden in that compartment. But you know what? Maybe there is nothing hidden there. Maybe Freur just goes there to feel pain."
