I stumbled out of the phone booth feeling a bit dizzy and perhaps a little more sorry for myself than was usual. I was exhausted from my endless running around an bothered by the fact that the natural light in the sky was gradually dimming. I had promised Freur that I would find him . In just under eight hours since we met, so many factors were already between us like a chasm. I couldn't have been the reason for any of them so Maultner and Flourescent had to be right. Freur had to be a dangerous man.
I walked urgently into the forest without checking if Maultner had seen me. When I was behind a big tree, I crouched down and wretched. Nothing came out. I felt goddamn awful and my frustration skyrocketed. Dammit, I was going to cry now. A warm covered my shoulders. It was Maultner, throwing a jacket around me.
"Got it from a nearby store," he said gruffly.
"Why? That was dangerous."
