Chapter 5 - Episode 5: The Moment He Almost Broke His Rule

The night was heavier than usual.

Wind moved through the empty streets, and somewhere in the distance, thunder rolled like a warning.

Kabir Rajvansh stood near the balcony of his mansion, eyes fixed on the city below.

But he wasn't seeing the city.

He was seeing her.

Meera Verma.

He clenched his jaw.

This was not supposed to happen.

Feelings were never part of his world.

Feelings got people killed.

And yet… she kept coming into his mind without permission.

"Boss," his right-hand man stepped in, "we traced a group trying to leak information about our north deal."

Kabir didn't turn.

"Clean it."

Simple. Cold. Final.

That was always him.

But today… there was a pause inside him.

A pause he hated.

Because in that pause, there was her.

Far away…

Meera was walking back from work late at night.

The streets were dim. Shops closed. Silence everywhere.

She hugged her bag closer and quickened her steps.

Something felt wrong.

Not fear exactly…

But presence.

Like someone was watching her.

A black car passed slowly behind her.

Meera stopped.

Her breath caught.

For a second… her heart whispered his name.

Kabir.

But the car didn't stop.

It moved on.

Still…

her chest felt tight.

Inside that moving car…

Kabir sat in the backseat.

Eyes sharp.

Jaw tight.

He had seen her.

Just for a second.

That was enough to ruin his entire night.

"Boss, should we—"

"No."

One word.

Sharp.

Final.

The men stayed silent.

Because they understood.

That wasn't an order.

It was control.

Over himself.

Kabir's gaze stayed fixed out the tinted window.

Meera was disappearing behind them.

And for a split second…

he wanted to stop the car.

Just to make sure she reached home safely.

Just to make sure nothing touched her.

Just to make sure she stayed alive…

because of him.

His fists tightened.

He hated that feeling.

Because it wasn't protection anymore.

It was something worse.

Something personal.

Something dangerously close to obsession.

At home, Meera finally reached safely and locked her door.

She leaned against it, breathing heavily.

Her heart was still racing.

But she didn't know why.

She whispered softly to herself—

"Why do I feel like… someone is always there?"

Silence answered her.

But her heart already knew.

On the other side of the city…

Kabir stood in darkness again.

Alone.

Unmoving.

And for the first time in years…

he admitted the truth in a whisper only he could hear.

"I shouldn't have seen you again…"

A pause.

"…but I can't stop."

And that was the moment he almost broke his own rule completely.

The rule that kept her alive…

and kept him away.

To be continued… 💔
